Politicians oppose almost all legislation meant to protect the environment? Why do they call global warming a farce? The polar ice caps are melting, so this is evidence to me it is a fact.

Since there are different positions on global warming and no one posted links to support their claims, I am sending this to voting.
Thanks for the answers, all.

MONEY plain and simple MONEY and GREED.
You will be amazed how fast a person's faith and Religion can change if you flash them enough money or motive.
They will ignore the obvious evidence as long as they can because the money is too good not too. That is why they buy all the patents up for new forms of fuel or energy so they have cornered the market on the worlds power supply which they now hold us all hostage with their price gouging which is so un called for and not needed but these oil tycoons just can not make enough money simple as that.
So once we have nearly depleted all out natural resourced THAT is when they will announce all these great ways to start saving or changing energy forms. The tech exists to replace it by using Power Cells, but they will not refine it because it will cost them money.
All those hybrid cars they made a few years ago. ALL were leased and are being taking back and crushed in the yards after their leases are done, they are not being put back on the road because it cost them too much money to have them.
See it is all about money in their pockets, not about the world and it's needs. most of them believe they will be dead before we have to worry and they are so cold they think that having all this tech stored and saved their kids or grandkids generation will discover a way to make a total replacement to fossil fuels.
They could do it now, they just do not want too. That is what I believe at least.

What you dont see right away is the political agenda that environmental protection imposes.
When you see how the massive regulation of all sorts of industries would come about, and then think about exactly how many laws you should, could, and want to be governed by - it becomes obvious that there is more at play here on this topic than "protecting the earth".
If you can't see that, then I'd say you are in denial.
Jesus said there would be a new earth and a new heaven. The path to that is NOT going to be a walk in the park.
Oh, and didn't you read your textbook in high school? the earth naturally heats up and cools down in cycles over long periods. The last peak of the cycle was an ice age, so logic dictates that the next peak is heat. Then another ice age. Then another heat cycle. A cycle, by definition, repeats.

Actually, many scientists agree that the accelerated melting of the polar ice caps, is due to shifts in the earths crust, allowing heat from the earths core to rise to the surface. The ice caps are melting from the bottom side up, not the top side down. Global warming by way of the atmosphere is only slightly true, not enough temperature change has occured, in order to cause adverse effects on our eco-system. At the rate the atmosphere is changing, it would take 140,000 years before the eco system would be adversely affected.
God Bless You....Peace.

Because JAYZUS is comin' back to rapture all his true believers to heaven! So, go ahead, provoke war in the middle east, tear down mosques, ruin the environment, encourage global warming! Wars, and rumors of wars, baby! When those goons see the world falling down around them, and no Christ coming to save them, they'll be in what they created for themselves: a living hell. Too bad the rest of us have to pay for their sins.

The concept there is that God gave mankind the earth to serve him, so there is nothing we do to the earth that is not OK - and, the second coming is supposed to prevent us from being penalized by mistreating the earth since Jesus is scheduled to fix it all when he comes back. For other people, the destruction of the earth is part of the prelude to the second coming, so they have no real motive to delay that in their minds, feeling that it is inevitable and also part of the plan.

Because, the rapture will come before that. OK, maybe not entirely true. But I would think god would be pretty pissed because we've haven't done a very good job of being a steward for this planet.

Right wingers are not environmentalist minded. Christian are not environmentalist minded, either! Jesus is coming back soon. This world is going to be dissolved. There is going to be a new Heaven and a New Earth and a new Hell so why bother with this Earth?

they think they are bringing on the rapture. they go to israel, also, and stir up stuff between the jews and muslims because, you know, armageddon will start with an attack on israel.
they are interested only in their own spiritual glory. how surprised will they be to find themselves in hell? i honestly hope the universe has enough of a sense of humor to let them roast until they're well-done.

You have it bass akwards. God made the earth for us, not us for the earth. But this does not mean that Christians wish to destroy the earth. If you are for something that fundamental Christians are against-then you must be wrong.
