Are you overweight? Do you avoid daily exercise? Do you eat "convenience" foods instead of raw, natural foods? Is anyone in your family diabetic? If you answered yes to any of those, then you should definitely get your blood glucose checked. There's a very handy chart on the following page that will give you some guidelines as to what to look for in the readings: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glucose_tolerance_test

See a doctor. A blood draw for a couple of lab tests will tell you all you need to know.

Been a diabetic for years. BTW, you can do a lot to manage the problem. Trust me diabetes is not necessarily the end of the world. The earlier you are diagnosed the better. I already had nerve damage and circulation problems when I was diagnosed.

Just get tested. If it's positive you can start taking care and if it's negative the load will be lifted off your shoulders. WIN WIN.

Go get your blood sugar checked. "Normal" blood sugar is generally considered to be between 70 and 120 (the numbers vary depending on the source you look at, but that's in the ballpark). It's a really quick and easy test. If you have a friend or relative that is diabetic, they should be able to hook you up with a strip and poker super-easy. (No, there is no such thing as a glucometer [blood sugar tester] that is just for "X" type of diabetes.)

The test is too easy and too important to avoid. Don't panic of your blood sugar is 121. But if it's 130 you need to see your doc tomorrow. Anything in the 200+ realm and you need to be headed to the hospital.

Excessive thirst. If you are really worried about it drive down to your local ambulance station and ask the crew to check you blood sugar for you. It is free and they will be happy to do it. Then if you have any questions they can answer some of them. They are not doctors but they can tell you what abnormal is and if you need to be seen by a doctor.
