The party is for your little girl.. it does not matter if the cousins do not like the theme..
Try this type of princess theme...

You cant go wrong with Elmo especially if she loves him. Elmo is a universal theme and is awesome. If your daughter loves Elmo and you feel like she will really like all the Elmo stuff around her then who cares what other people are saying. This theme is perfect for a 1 year olds bday party regardless of gender. Have fun with Elmo

Who cares what the teenie boppers like!?? They are going to celebrate your daughter, not criticize on her day! Why don't you take her to the party store where they have all the themes and let her eyes direct you. My daughter LOVES dogs, so we did a Dog Theme for her 1st birthday in October. Now, if someone would've told me I'd be having a DOG party, I would have laughed. It was great fun, though! We used the Little Einstein's but we had to make everything, because there were no things released yet. (all we could find were baby Einstein's and my nephew likes the tv show Little Einstein's). Also we cleaned out the dollar store of 'baby's first birthday' favors. They came came in blue or pink. That way the theme could be Baby's first birthday.

My little girl's first birthday theme was "Disney Princesses". When it's their birthdays, her cousin's can have the theme of their choice (ie. "High School Musical", "The Cheetah Girls", or whatever they're in to). Are her cousin's going to take into consideration that your daughter isn't in to "High School Musical" & pre-teen/teen things when planning their birthday parties?-I seriously doubt it.

My sister did a "Ladybug" theme for her twins' 1st birthday. Everything was red and black and polka-dotted. It was really cute!
I agree that the older girl's opinions really aren't a factor for the baby's party! They can choose for their own party!

i think the princess theme would be fine-it's not the preteens' and teens' party anyway. however, if you want to satisfy everyone, a theme like dogs, cats, or jungle would probably work also.

Keep it simple and within your child's interests. Don't worry about the teens/preteens. They may choose the theme for their parties.
