There's Primal Strips, but I'm not crazy about them. They also have Primal Sticks, but I have not tried those yet.

Stonewall's Jerquee comes in little bags and are shaped like coins. They're okay. I like the Teriyaki flavor best.

There's Tasty Bite, which comes in little pouches and is in shreds. I like the Teriyaki flavor. I don't like the excess packaging they use, though.

I HATED the Tofurkey Jurkey.

None of the veggie jerkies I've tried really resemble what I recall the beef jerky tasting like.

"How it All Vegan" by Sarah Kramer and Tanya Barnard has a recipe for tofu jerky, but I have yet to try it.

There are many different kinds, and the quality varies wildly with brand. I also like Stonewall's Jerquee, though it tastes more like fried chicken than jerky. The name of the really good brand I've had a couple of times escapes me now, but there are brands that taste just like good jerky.

Slim Jims on the other hand, I'm glad I've never found anything that tastes like those. Ick.

The only vegetarian jerky I've ever had came with my Tofurky vegetarian feast that I bought for Thanksgiving - it was jerky in the shape of a wishbone, so that you don't actually have to snap a turkey's wishbone to enjoy the tradition. I think it tasted kind of like turkey jerky, but not like the beef type (from what I recall, anyway... I haven't had meat jerky in a long while).

You sound exactly like me. I have tried fake beef burgers on maybe 5 different occasions and I have vomited every single time after ward. The fake chicken burgers and nuggets I am completely fine with, I can stomach them no problem, but just the mere thought of a veggie "beef" burger makes my stomach turn. When I was driving across Canada with my sister this summer, we stopped at A&W and they have a veggie burger made of mushrooms. Just typing it right now makes me feel ill, and lets just say I didn't sleep that night because I got so sick. God only knows how I would feel if I ate a real beef burger someday. I shudder at the thought. And as Suzy Q said, I didn't give up meat for the taste, I gave it up for ethical reasons. The only thing that really grossed me out about meat was red meat, specifically steak, and venison, which looks like a dead grey blob of muscle (Exactly what it is hahaha)

Yes, I have.
No, there are none I've tried that taste like the real thing (but are tasty in their own right)
To truely commit to being vegitarian, there are a few things that you just have to give up for which is no good substitute, like beef jerky, sushimi, or bacon.

I too have tried Stonewall's and I really like it.
I also ate quite a few Slim Jims in my life (hangs head in shame) before going veggie and I like Stonewall's better. It comes in a variety of flavors and has a TON of protein in it.
Good luck!

I like Tasty Eats - http://store.foodfightgrocery.com/tastyeatsjerky.html The Hot & Spicy flavor is especially good.

Can't stand the taste of Stonewall's.

OMG ... dear, I tried some at a summer food show on the Continent a veggie head colleague dragged me to. It is sooooooooo VILE, I almost chundered in the midst of a crowd of people. I'm sure it is made from un-named things swept from a floor.
