I am hosting a Christmas party with a friend of mine when I go home for christmas. We are in our early 20's and it will not be a sit down dinner or anything. Should I ask people to drink alcohol? I don't think we can afford to buy alcohol for everyone. Should I maybe make a special drink and put it in a punch bowl and if people want anything beyond that tell them to bring their own?? Thanks for your ideas.
xoxo

We usually provide food and a signature drink or keg and then express to our friends that they should bring their favorite drink to share with others--its kind of fun, because they can introduce people to their favorite drink! In the alternative, we suggest they bring a drink or a dessert so its more like a choice

If your friends are your age, they'll totally understand, and by providing the location and the eats and the entertainment, they should be happy!

Invariably people are going to ask if they can bring something. Just tell them to grab a bottle of wine.
