STD's have nothing to do with sexual orientation. Of course they can.

Holy Cow! Of course he can! AIDS, for instance, is primarily a heterosexual disease in Africa, where there are the most cases. A condom, correctly used, will protect a male against most STD's (including AIDS) -- but not all. Genital Herpes, in particular is carried by the blood, but most often manifests itself on the skin, often on skin beneath the triangular area of pubic hair. Many people carry this virus, and it can be transmitted through contact even when there are no physical signs, even when a person is using "protection".

While other STD's are inconvenient and can be very harmful if untreated, AIDS is invariably DEADLY and INCURABLE. When you have sex with someone, your actually "having sex" with everyone in the whole "tree" of people that makes up your partner's and her partners' sexual histories. So be SURE, or risk death, not just for yourself, but for the many who will be affected by what you do!

Here's a VERY controversial thought. I believe that because of the threat to actual life that AIDS represents, that everyone should be tested, and those carrying the virus should be tattooed. Horrible! That's like the Nazis! Not at all. I think that a tiny, discrete mark should be placed on the body somewhere that no one except an intimate partner would ever see it. It's just a fact that with sexual arousal being present (often combined with alcohol) in first contacts with a partner, even the average person is not likely to be able to make decisions that in the end involve not only their own lives, but that of many others. When and if a vaccine is found for AIDS, removing the tatoos would be an easy matter, and I'd be all for it -- and for that stipulatuion to be made part of enacting any such law.

Those who say "being responsible" will solve the problem are, in my opinion, simply unrealistic. Those few whatever-they-are's who say that AIDS is some sort of punishment from God, well they're only worth mentioning like some deep pothole that could hurt someone if unnoticed. Still, if we were talking about anything but life and death -- even such cruel diseases as syphilis, then I would not see this issue as I do. But the fact that AIDS is invariably fatal, highly contagious and as yet has NO CURE whatsoever, to me temporarily supercedes individual liberty in favor of public safety.

Your question brings this clearly to light. As uninformed as you are, you could kill me (I've had unprotected sex despite what I know...) and hundreds of others without even knowing it. And there are thousands more like you and me whose lack of education or behavior presents an equal danger. I'm not any better than you, but I do have a right to life, and so does anyone else: stupid, drunk, or not.

You are kidding me about this question aren't you? Do you know what an STD is, no it is not a phone call. Sorry of course a straight male can get an STD if you or your spouse sleeps around.

Yes, in fact it is easier for a male to contract a STD than a female simply because a males sex organs are on the outside of the body.

Anyone can get an STD and especially if they are sexually active. I know this sounds crazy that I said anyone but it is true because even if you are NOT active that way and still kiss someone (french style) there is a possibility that you can get herpes. That is also an STD. So just be careful.

Yes you could. Sexual intercourse without protection with a female having an STD can transmit the STD to you.

I believe you're supposed to get checked at least once a year and of course, use protection.

By your reasoning, the only way a woman could get an STD is by having sex with a gay male! Not likely, is it!?
STD's are transmitted easily both from man to woman, and woman to man. Don't kid yourself that STD's are somehow choosey in who they infect - they don't know or care if you're gay or straight - if you're there, they'll infect you. Simple.

STDs can be transmitted by anyone who has had unprotected sex. Of course condoms have a 10% fail rate for pregnancy so I don't know how much I'd trust them for STDs.

I really hope you are a child asking this question. Because if you are an adult, then that is pretty sad to even need an answer to this. Any person in the world, any age, any gender, can contract any disease, including STD's.

Yah - and if you use a condom - you'll never get a girl pregnant either! LOL! To say that a condom will protect you against HIV, syphillis, gonorhea, veneral warts and other VD and to say - you can't get a girl pregnant is like saying "Hey - I'm at the top of this 10 story building. I've got my hard hat on - my protection - I'll be just fine jumping off! Bye bye!"
