it also affects my other body fluids like urine. what could cause this?

when the body is not able to utilize glucose as source of energy usually he come to another way which is protein or fats the byproduct of such process end with acetone which gives you this sour taste of molded apple so you MUST SEE your doc as soon as possible to give another stronger medication there is many drugs now that could adjust your bl glucose level with minimum side effect ask about byetta OR pioglitazone talk to him

When your sugar goes up to what? No, of course that's not normal. I've been as high as 200 and felt fine except for being a little tired. No other symptoms. That's just plain weird.
