what would be the consequences? How about all those people who work for Yahoo that would be left unemployed? Who would end up paying for them? We would. One way or another we would end up paying the price for ending their employment. The energy we saved by not being on Yanswers would be spent in keeping these poor unemployed former Yahoo employees fed and clothed until they could find other forms of employment. I think the responsible thing to do is continue to support the lowly Yahoo employees and stay on the site.

Great Idea. We have no street lights here and if street lights were turned off in Town there would be less need for the Town based thieves to come out here and steal things, which would reduce our insurance premiums. Low energy high efficiency bulbs and proper installations with reflectors etc are a better answer.

I don't think my computer uses as much energy as my TV set, my microwave, or other household appliances. Besides, I get a lot of useful information from my computer. All I get from TV is useless drivel and endless commercials. I rarely turn on my TV, and I use other appliances as expediently as possible. I also find lots of other helpful advice on how to conserve energy from my computer. -RKO- 12/09/07

it is better to turn off unused appliances instead of turning off the computer. computer is a very useful tool from learning and i would like to learn more. better change your bulbs with low wattage ones. i also agree with the other answerer that many will lose their jobs if no one will use the computer anymore. perhaps, we find information in the computer how we will stop global warming
