You make a good point, Mike. I don't think I've ever seen a Republican candidate that wasn't ready to bite into a big juicy burger.
However, to make sure I don't get violated,:
No not all vegetarians are Democrat athiest.
Clint Eastwood is a vegetarian and he's a Republican, has been since 1951

I remember learning in church when I was a child that God loves all creatures. Given that, if there is a God (agnostic here) then I highly doubt he is happy with what is happening to his creatures by the hands of his children. I also believe the people doing that and the people that don't care at all about it will be punished. Good luck.

I'm the resident V&V conservative.
And I shop at a vegetarian market that is run by Seventh Day Adventists (AKA Christians).
It is certainly true that a lot of vegetarians, and vegans in particular are very liberal, politically speaking, but not all of them.

I don't know anything politic wise but Buddhism is totally about not eating and harming animals, amphibians, insects, etc. And if you really think about it, society has taught you to know and like meat. If you have never eaten or thought about hurting an animal i don't think it would come to you to really eat it. I mean when you look at a cow, pig, or chicken I don't think it really looks "good" to eat. You don't see it as food. You see it as what it really is a living creature.

I guess you haven't met any adventists, hindu, jains or any of the many religions and Christian denominations that practice vegetarianism. Go to Loma Linda, California and you will meet many republican and Christian vegetarians.
