Tie a plastic bag around his head for about two hours ... he won't cough again

I think if he was coughed a lot the is probably OK. If there is no bleeding and he has not been making wheezing sounds he should be good. The Choking mechanism is darn fast . It sometimes is able to save us from ourselves.
Please keep an eye on your friend if he is prone to such things as sucking dust.
To comfort him you may tell him that he has probably sucked in the dust of an ancient Roman centurion from the time of Hadrian.
If he doesn't settle down take him to the clinic.

I can't stop laughing everytime Dune calls my own Moley, a *he* or each time Penfold bears the name Penny in her eyes! Lol.

Anyway, if this is a deep throated cough, take him to the Doctor for simple examination. You have already taken the firt necessary step. but ensure that the coughing doesn't get out of hand. personally, I think he will be ok. if he only sucked a little considerable amount of the dust!

Freeman you are being an ****!
A55 HOLE!!

If there is any metal stuck in the back of his throat, get some long pointed needle nose pliers and a jaw vise. If you have any lacquer thinner, get him to breath in the vapours, that should give you about an hour to pluck it all out.

Drinking anything isn't going to clear lungs. If he is bleeding during coughing or, God forbid, vomiting, see a Dr./ go to the e.r. If this scenario is real, all I can say is: WOW.

How often in a day does this occur? My advice is to put ice and a few drops of menthol in the bong. RScott

Think ahead next time about the risks. take him to the hospital and get him looked at or if his coughing gets worst or continues.

I think you need to hire a housekeeper or cleaning service. If he has any respiratory distress (poor friend) or illness, seek medical treatment.
