Yes, absolutely. and when I was on steroids during chemotherapy, my blood sugar shot up like that as well. You may have to increase your meds or insulin while you are on antibiotics.

It seems possible that an anti-biotic might cause an incorrect reading, but generally antibiotics cause blood sugars to drop. With a reading this high you should get to Doc ASAP - its not worth taking chances.

It could be, but I think its more likely your body's response to the infection that the antibiotic is trying to treat.

However that is very high. Are you sure your meter is reading correctly?. Try changing your test strip batch and re-testing...just in case.

I don't know what infection you have. But you're not drinking lots of sugary drinks or eating cough sweets or something like that?

If your retest comes out similar, I think I would call your diabetes adviser/doctor and ask for advice.
