Yes there is a total in life style, more movement, no fat diet, no beer, very little sugar, cholesterol free diet, and no smoking or stimulants. Briefly answering.

Well I'm not sure whether you are asking the question prior to his surgery, or whether he has already had it. It is never too late to chuck out junk food diet and get some exercise. He will have to be guided by his surgeon on post surgical activity because it depends exactly on what surgery he has done. The main thing is to be kind and not force any changes on him. He will need lots of support and encouragement. Open heart surgery is difficult for someone at any age, but at 75 he deserves a bit of extra care.

Yes, eating should change.
Less fat and more fibre.
More fruit and nuts.
Occasional beer or wine is OK.
Binge drinking is hard on the liver, but not so bad on the heart.
Driving shouldn't change.
Regular exercise goes a long way.
