I am a 20-year-old female. I am healthy, not at all overweight, and get plenty of excercise. This has been going on for several years now, but whereas five years ago it only happened once a month or so, it is now happening almost daily. I will be simply sitting or lying there, and suddenly, when I breath in, I get a very sharp pain seemingly where my heart is. It feels like something poking or crushing my heart. When I sit still for a moment, it dulls to an ache, but when I inhale or exhale deeply, the pain sharpens again. Sometimes it lasts only a minute or two. Sometimes it lasts for over an hour. It's really starting to scare me and I was wondering if it's something I should be seriously concerned about.

Maybe you have some kind of lung infection like pnemonia or bronchitis. That can cause chest pain. Or also it could be a broken rib because sometimes people can go without knowing it. Did you get hit or fall that would explain that? Maybe there's something wrong with your blood pressure; maybe it''s too high or something. Good luck and I hope it's nothing serious. Let me know.

Cholesterol is a whitish, waxy fat made in vast quantities by the liver. That's why liver and other organ meats are high in cholesterol! Cholesterol is needed to make hormones as well as cell membranes. If you have high cholesterol, the excess cholesterol in your blood can cause narrowed arteries, which can lead to a heart attack. Saturated fat, discussed in detail in the Diet section, is often a culprit when it comes to high cholesterol because it causes your body to produce its own cholesterol.

The highest levels of cholesterol, however, are due to a genetic defect in the liver. The story of women and high cholesterol is still unfolding. You see, when it comes to high cholesterol, newer research is showing that it is not as much of a risk factor for heart disease in women as it is for men.

Do you get heartburn a lot? Because, it's possible it could be your esophagus. When you have acid reflux it can feel like a exactly like a heart attack, because they share the same nerves. This was the case for me.

You should be very concerned about it and see a doctor instead of coming to Yahoo Answers for medical advice.
