It means the Ejection Fraction is 29 %, i.e. the left ventricle is pumping only 29 % of it's normal capacity which is > 55 %. I fully agree with the treatment of pacemaker or any ICD.

Ejection fraction is the fraction of blood pumped out of a ventricle with each heart beat. The term ejection fraction applies to both the right and left ventricles; without a qualifier, the term ejection fraction refers specifically to that of the left ventricle. 29% Ejection Fraction is very poor heart function, normal Ejection Fractions range from 55% - 70% with the average being 58%. This could be from heart failure or other causes.. Damage to the muscle of the heart (myocardium), such as that sustained during myocardial infarction or in cardiomyopathy, impairs the heart's ability to eject blood and therefore reduces ejection fraction. This reduction in the ejection fraction can manifest itself clinically as heart failure. The ejection fraction is one of the most important predictors of prognosis; those with significantly reduced ejection fractions typically have a poorer prognoses.

I assume you are talking about ejection fraction. A healthy person has an ejection fraction of about 70%. So now you can see where your mother's fits in. What was her ejection fraction before the bypass. That's what you should find out and see how much of an improvement it is.

I think that it means that the heart is only working 29% of its total capacity. but I am not sure. I hope your mom gets better.
