I've never had sex. EVER. I've never intimately touched anyone, yet I have these sores inbetween my two upper thighs. Could I really get herpies without doing anything to get them? And if so, how is this possible?

Sadly, yes you can.

In fact, most people are infected with herpes viruses without having become aware of it.

However, the skin lesions you describe sound like a localized infection (if it is an infection) or rash. I'm not yet convinced that it is herpes, though. Perhaps you should see a doctor so they can find out what it is before you jump to conclusions.

It is more likely to be a staphylococcal skin infection or a type of rash.

There are two types of herpes simplex virus (HSV): HSV-1 and HSV-2. HSV-1 is the usual cause of cold sores on the lips (herpes labialis (see Mouth Sores )) and sores on the cornea of the eye (herpes simplex keratitis (see Corneal Disorders: Herpes Simplex Keratitis )). HSV-2 is the usual cause of genital herpes. You can get HSV-1 or 2 by coming into contact with the virus either by touch of an open sore OR by sexual contact with someone who has active virus infection. Babies can be infected with HSV-2 in the birth canal if the mother has an active infection. Not all herpes lesions are on the lip or face. You can get them on your cheeks, buttock, hands if you pick at face lesions. Then you could scratch the virus into another area of the skin. Herpes starts as a small raised and itchy spot that eventually blisters and oozes clear fluid. It is very itchy druing outbreak and you normally would have whats called a 'prodrome' before the actual lesion appears. Headache, pins and needle sensations and then the itching at the sore as it rises. Scratching it makes it worse and and spread it around. You probably don't have it but if it heals up and then comes back later in the same place then it could be it. I got spots like you described when I wore jeans that had heavy threads in the inseams that chafed me. Got rid of the jeans and it went away. But point is there is herpes out here that is not from sex.

There is no possible way you could have herpes without sexual contact! You would not be getting sores on your thighs either even if you did have it, it just does not work that way. You would have sores in and around your vagina and anal region nowhere else. Your sores could very well be ingrown hairs from shaving or if your thighs rub together when you walk, chafing perhaps but definitely NOT herpes. Don't worry there is noway you could have an STD of any kind! Good for you by the way on being a virgin I think it's awesome that there are still people out there with values!
