You want to climb a telephone pole? Cool. That's something I haven't heard of before now, I guess you could use a couple of ice axes and some crampons if you wanted to.

Sweet, free cable!!!!
Reminds me of a story...my old roomate at university did that once. He climbed up there (half drunk) with a hammer and a pocketfull of 4" spikes, plugged in all the cables for the whole block (because he didn't know which one was ours). But I wouldn't reccomend that method because if you fell, I imagine all those nails would really mess you up badly.
You could do it with rock climbing gear, just like ascending a rope (as if the pole is the rope). But you wouldn't use prussic knots because they would be too difficult to slide up the pole. All you would do is use slings and tie them each as a single "choker" rather than a prussic. But experiment first and see how much friction you need to safely get up there.

You could use two short bights of rope with a timber hitch knot. Some biners & daisy chains with a harness will be necessary also. I climb pine trees this way but don't reccomend it. Try a pawn shop or call a tree trimming company. My best suggestion is NOT to do anything illegal. We climbers have a reputation to uphold. Ethics are important. Thanks, Paul

Yes, cats love to climb. They love to stalk also. This is the "hunter" side of your cat, whether it's hungry or not. If a cat lives outside most of the time, it might hunt, kill, and bring their prize for their "leader: you" to admire. Cats are proud of their abilities, and like to show off!
