Yes, you can transfer the virus to your genitals. It is a different type but it can still transfer. Make sure you keep your hands washed.

It wouldn't be genital herpes. You have type 1 herpes on your mouth. If you touch your coldsore and then your genitals or if someone kisses you then goes down on you, you can transfer the type 1 herpes down there (and you can give it to someone else if you touch the coldsore then their genitals or if you go down on them). You would not develop type 2 (genital herpes). If you do get an outbreak you should go to the Dr. for some Valtrex so it clears up quickly. The chances of another outbreak on your genitals are slim to none, unless you do the same thing again (having contact between the coldsore and your genitals).
So, always be careful to avoid contact. Wash your hands and don't kiss anyone anywhere.

Herpes isn't a blood infection it's a simplex virus that lies dormant in the spinal column. You have cold sores which means you do have a type of herpes called oral herpes, it's slightly different then the one you get on your genitals. Cold sores are often passe to the mouth by being innocently kissed by some one that has cold sores. The are contagious but nothing major to worry over. It's possible but you're unlikely to pass cold sores to your genitals. You would have to touch a cold sore then with in seconds touch your genitals, the herpes virus doesn't last for more then a few seconds when it's out side of the body.

There are 2 types of the herpes virus. Type 1 (oral) and Type 2 (genital). The 2 different types are typically dominant to a specific region on the body (type 1 around the mouth & type 2 the genital).
But, when you have a cold sore and you touch down there, you can transfer the virus to your genital region. Or if you have genital herpes, you can transfer the virus to your mouth region.
You would have only transfered the virus from one part of the body to another. The only way you can get Type 2 is by someone giving it to you. But you still would have given yourself genital herpes but with the Type 1 strain-not type 2.

YES u can but chances are kind of low. it would be an oral herpes trasfer. u would have to touch your cold sore and then wipe or touch your genitals a lot. u could also give some one genital herpes if u give them oral sex while u have a cold sore. thats how i got herpes down there (from the later).
