I doubt the world would stop eating meat.
Meat is a natural part of one's diet. Just look at tribal/primitive societies.
Maybe in a 1,000 years, we would have stripped the world clean of animals and will have to resort to eating something different - soylent green?
But seriously, I doubt the world would stop eating meat. Why should we?

I think too many people enjoy meat proteins. I don't think that eating "artificial meat" is a long-term solution. There are marked issues with eating too much soy product, but a varied diet that includes soy is alright. A soy or veggie pattie might taste good for other reasons, but it's not a meat replacement. The same is true for Tofurky-type foodstuffs. Yes, we don't eat meat so we think they're good, but from a cooking standpoint, they "just ain't meat."
I do, however, think that more people will move toward a more plant-based diet for heath reasons, but I don't think meat-eating will ever go away. I wouldn't mind the meat part if factory farms went away and we only had sustainable, local farms. But until capitalism stops reigning...

No I don't think the world will ever stop eating meat....we can certainly dream of that day though.
Like someone else said..there will always be someone out there that will eat it...due to whatever reasons...poverty and or availability probably being one of the main reasons for such....think third world countries.
I DO believe that fur will be gone or just about gone one day. So many are already leaning that way. Fur is out....fake is here and in style. I watched a thing on QVC yesterday where they were selling great fake fur everything...jackets..pillows...covers.......even the suede on the back was fake. Nothing came from an animal...but it sure did look it. It was a beautiful thing. I think that fur will be probably the only thing going for good....maybe not everyone...but most of the world's population.
We can always dream of that beautiful day that we live in peace and harmony with ALL the animals in the world...........I think that's always going to be just that though..a dream.

They've actually already found a way to "grow" meat, without slaughtering an animal. It's still being tweaked of course, but I suspect it will be a viable alternative in the not too distant future. I'm sure it will take a couple of generations for people to get over the weirdness of it.
I think that out of necessity (overpopulation mainly) people will have to eat less meat as it isn't as efficient to support as plant based diets. (takes up too much land and steps to completion)
There will always be some people who eat meat though...
Check out the movie Soylent Green. (And I'm referring mainly to the people who buy black market meat- the uber rich, not the "twist" of the movie.)

I highly doubt it. It sounds like a good idea though. Also this synthetic meat should have a small amount calories, right? If we did not raise animals for meat we could use our resources to help people instead. I would love the fact that no one would have to work in the dangerous filthy enviroment of a slaughterhouse!

I honestly do think that one day people will look back on our meat-eating days as disgusting, primitive, and just dumb. We already have science that shows beyond any kind of reasonable doubt that meat and other animal products are bad for you. This information has been around for years, but there's a lot of propoganda by industries that would be hurt if people knew the truth about what they eat, so it's going to take a while to combat that. You've also got all the HORRORS that go in slaughterhouses and dairy and chicken and pig farms...one of these days it's not going to just be animal rights groups spreading this info. When exposes start hitting 60 Minutes and other mainsteam television news shows and when more celebrities start bringing attention to these issues, it's going to wake a lot of people up. We've already got a trend towards healthier eating happening right now and the number of strict vegetarians/vegans is growing very quickly. This isn't the kind of lifestyle that people "get over" because once you start learning the truth about all this stuff it sticks with you. So, as more and more people educate themselves they're going to educate others and that's going to have an impact. Also, there's some stuff that goes on with lobbying and the way some research is done and things that are ignored or overlooked or even purposely supressed to benefit certain industries that if it ever comes to light to a broad public it's going to be downright scandalous. Especially in the next decade when more results come about from disease and nutrition research - the meat and dairy industries are going to have a lot of explaining to do. I'm going to have faith in humanity and say that when the scientific community finally bands together and presents to the world that meat and other animal products are the cause of so much of our disease and are totally unecessary for proper nutrition, that eventually you will see hardly anyone in the modern world eating meat OR dairy.
EDIT: Mike D., WHAT nutrients does only animal products have? That is absolutely not true. The only thing animal flesh has that plants don't are a few amino acids that OUR BODIES MAKE FROM THE AMINO ACIDS IN PLANT FOOD THE SAME WAY WHATEVER ANIMAL YOU'RE EATING MAKES IT FROM THE PLANT FOODS HE OR SHE EATS.

I merely think what will happen in 100 years to come.
Base to the CURRENT TREND (and consider other factors are remain unchanged), there will be 12 billion human, 50 billion animal raised for food (4 livestock to 1 man), and zero rain forest will remain.
Everyone is thinking like a typical end-user, not even contributed or bothered to safe the "last tree". All the time they presumed that it is the duty of environmentalists and vegetarian activists.!
Sometimes I contented not to born again in the earth that I had already deteriorated and devastated.
However, the consumers awareness and conscience is evolved, many countries have blessed for environmental and vegetarian activities. Recently the Muslim countries like Indonesia & Malaysia have initiated Vegetarian Society.

I don't think the world will ever stop. With genetics and different ways to produce meat, I think it will always be part of our tables. I do also believe that the "cruelty" aspect of meat production will be eliminated or reduced greatly. It's going to happen very gradually. An evolution of sorts.

Will we even be here in 1000 years? At the rate we're destroying the planet, if we make it to that point, the world will probably be such a big disasterous mess...who knows what we'll eat.
Barring any huge disasters, and assuming we clean up the world, and there's actually a positive outlook for us, I think meat eating will decrease, but never fully end.

I even have significant doubts approximately this question being a severe one, yet i'm going to respond to it besides :) confirm you're eating a balanced weight loss plan. go common on the beans; nuts & seeds are only as wealthy in proteins. go purchase some dried Kombu (a seaweed that's called Kelp) and positioned a chew of it in the soaking & cooking water of all your beans & lentils, it truly helps making them extra digestible. Get examining on nutrition combining. If it nevertheless does not develop, only purchase your self an oxygen mask and don't go away the domicile anymore.
