I have noticed that for the past few months, anytime I eat lettuce, I feel horrible afterwards, like it just sits on my stomach and I feel nauseous. Any reason why?

FYI: It does not matter where I get the lettuce from, the store and fix it on my own, or if I buy a salad at a restaurant...I get the same results. And yes, I eat it with different types of dressing and get the same results......

It is an insoluble fiber and a lot of people really do have trouble digesting it.
Don't get me wrong, insoluble fiber is GOOD for you, but some people just have to eat it with other foods, especially SOLUBLE fiber, like bread, potatoes, or rice.
RoyalGossip: Lettuce DOES have fiber, just very little.

Hi! if your reading this from the year 3000, I just want to tell you that there is a way for the past to communicate to the future, but is it possible for the future to send a message to the past? This is the year 2016 and yea things i bet are a whole lot different in your time than it is for us.. Anyway certain lettuce is hard to digest, while stuff like ice burg lettuce that is mainly water is not. But the greener the lettuce the more nutrients so.. yea

For some reason, your stomach may be sensitive to lettuce. I really don't like iceberg lettuce myself, and much prefer the darker greens like romaine or spinach. Could be you're eating too fast or not chewing properly. But people do develop allergies to certain foods, so if lettuce bothers you, you might have to give up salads.

If you are sure that lettuce gave you indigestion, try to eat Roman lettuce, i heard it is easier to digest than iceberg lettuce, do not eat a lot just a little to see if your stomach can tolerate.

different types of lettuce can actually be really heavy on your system. especially romaine lettuce. try using iceberg lettuce and a fruit and vegetable cleaner. it could be the actual lettuce, what dressing your eating it with or the pesticides that are used to harvest it. try iceberg lettuce. use homemade dressing.. olive oil, lemon juice or apple cider vinegar and washing the lettuce with a pesticide remover.

lettuce is mostly water and fiber so in theory it shoudln't be hard to digest at all... however it is easily contaminated with bacteria so if your storing it in some nasty refrigerator or always eating it from the same location maybe you should switch it up and buy it someplace else or clean your frige.... maybe something your putting on it that your allergic to (sesame oil, cheese?)

thats just the way your digestive system takes it. Unless you've been eating bad lettuce every time.
