I am a healthy female in my mid twenties. I have never had any health problems or anything. However, in the last 8 months (since May), i have had Pneumonia 2 times and Broncitis 2 times. I now have a cold that is starting to get worse like all the other times durng the last 8 months.

Everytime i go to the doctor, they just give me antibitoics, etc. It takes me about 4 weeks to get all the way better again. They dont seem to be concerned that i am getting so many respitory problems lately. But i cant help but be concerned, because it is interfering with my life and work.

I am exposed to second hand smoke at work, but i have been exposed to it for the last 4 years, and i am just now getting sick this year, so i dont know if it is related or not.

You know, having pneumonia two times in the past 8 months may have actually been one long bout with it. Pneumonia is hard to get over.

I have to wonder, being an asthma educator, if you have asthma that is just now starting to bother you. What has changed in your life in the past 8-9 months?

Untreated asthma can turn into bronchitis and pneumonia.

Sounds like you need to go see a Pulmonologist, a doctor who specializes in the pulmonary/respiratory system. For someone your age to have this many problems is unusual. You will need to have a chest x-ray and PFT's.
Its important for the doc to do a complete physical with a history. Be sure to tell him about the smoking exposure, Id like to know where all these people work that smoking is still allowed in the workplace. Everyplace I have worked for the last 15 years banned in door smoking!

I have the SAME problem, and it does seem like all my doctor does is prescribe me another antibiotic...and for me, I never get fully better before I get something else going on in my respiratory system...I would suggest that you go see a specialist, someone trained to look at your symptoms and history of infection. I am going to be doing the same thing this winter, as I can't keep getting so sick! Good luck!

It could be secondhand smoke, if you can prove it you could sue the company for a lot of money. If you survive ok. I hope you get better and live a long life.

it could indeed be second hand smoke exposure, and I would suggest that you find another place to work without the exposure.
