My neighbor, who has promised me he would convert to veganism by the end of the month, brushed his angora bunnies last night I noticed. I often spy on him to make sure he is transitioning properly. I asked this morning what he is doing brushing his bunnies, he informed he is going to knit little sweaters for his little puppies he just bought from a breeder!

I am in shock, how can someone be so immoral? I calmly explained to him that moral vegans do not use animal products of any kind and that it is immoral to brush his bunny and use the hair ( I am having trouble with him understanding animal products) and also that it is immoral to buy puppies from a breeder.

Should I plan an intervention with my animal rights buddies, I Am afraid this lewd behavior will keep him from being a moral vegan.

It just sounds sinister to be brushing your bunnies at night.

well because i would think the bunnies enjoyed being brushed that they were the ones that benefited, and so it shouldn't matter (it ment they were tended to more than they would have otherwise) it's also better to use things than put things in landfills!)
and depending on the breeder it isn't always a bad choice. though some (actually most!) breeders are in it for money others (the best ones!) are in it for the love of dogs!
good breeders do NOT have anymore than a litter a year (usually less)
they only have a few dogs that are treated as any other pet or better
they ONLY have one breed (and no "doodles" or other crap)
they run all health and temperment tests possible on both parents and puppies to ensure the health of every puppy both for the breed and thier dogs
they are very picky about who buys the puppies and stay in touch with all the puppies' families and usually have a contract that ensures the puppies is returned if a family cannot keep the puppy
they often run breed specific rescues through thier home an advise anyone interested in a puppy to look into shelters
to many breeders dogs are thier children and they love and charish every puppy and dog they meet and are sickened by people trying to introduce "new" breeds and people trying to make profit of these wonderful creatures and people that treat thier dogs as anything less than a member of thier familys... i could go on forever... both the good and the bad...

Hey Peeping Ashley......since the pups will be using the bunny fur, it's not immoral. It's not like your friend is going to use it on himself.

You make good points though that Angora is not vegan (just like wool isn't) and it's better to not buy puppies from puppy mills.

BTW---it seems that if you'd "brush your bunny" more often, you wouldn't be so uptight :-)

He is taking good care of his bunnies. They need to be plucked and brushed so they don't get hair mats which an be very painful .
MAking fur coats for dogs which have fur coats is stupid.
HE could give the puppy heat prostration. Or he is kidding you.
Leave him alone, it sounds like he is just saying things to get you to leave him alone.
He will be vegan when he is ready. If ever.

Honestly, I'd lie to you too. Stop stalking your neighbor. I know your heart is in the right place, but you're sounding as nutty as squriell poo right now. I'm sure he's a grown man and can make his own moral decisions. People do have options here. Even a little change is good.

I really hope this is joke question.

Otherwise, you are a total nutcase.

Using animal products which don't harm the animal(s) involved is in no way immoral.

Puppy mills are bad, certainly, but many breeders take great care of their dogs, and if the puppies came from one of the bad ones, then he is saving them.

It appears that he is not worthy of this mortal realm, end his suffering swiftly and without mercy.

"Me" is right, it may help a little if you brushed your own bunny more often.

I would continue to spy on him. From the sound of things he will be clubbing baby seals within the week.
