about me...
I am a Christian who married a messianic Jew and am facinated by the Jewish heritage and how the Torah and the New testament go hand and hand.
This is what my hubby says:

Yeshua is the Messiah of Israel, the Savior of the world. He is YHWH who came in the flesh (1 Tim. 3:16). He was born of a virgin (Luke 1:34) and lived a sinless and Torah-observant life. He died an atoning death as the full and complete payment of our sin debt to God (1 John 4:10), was resurrected from the dead (1 Cor. 15:4), ascended to the right hand of Abba, the Father (Mark 16:19), and now is glorified with all power in Heaven and in Earth (John 1:12-14). He will return physically as King of kings and Lord of lords to rule and reign over the earth from the throne of His father David [in Jerusalem]. (Zech. 14; Acts 1:9-11, Rev. 19:11-16)

we need the salvation provided by the grace of YHWH through the atoning work of Yeshua as our final and ultimate Passover Lamb. (Ps. 14:1-3; Rom. 3:23)

Have you or would you ever consider that some of the Messianic prophecies were fulfilled by Jesus Christ during His first coming and the remainder will be fulfilled at His second coming?

Yes, all the facts are there....and they all point to him NOT being the messiah!

1) J*sus did not do anything the messiah is supposed to do. (One of these includes the fact that he cannot die before completing ALL of the tasks, which we all know J*sus did. There is no "second coming.")

Here is a short list of some prophecies:
Is there universal knowledge of one G-d? (Jeremiah 31:33, Zechariah 8:23, 14:9, 14:16,
Isaiah 11:9, Isaiah 40:5, Zephaniah 3:9)
Were all Jews returned to Israel? (Isaiah 43:5-6, Isaiah 11:12, Isaiah 27:12-13)
Did he bring world peace? (Isaiah 11:6, Micah 4:3)
Were all weapons destroyed? (Ezekiel 39:9)
Did all warfare cease? (Isaiah 2:4)
Was the Temple rebuilt in it's place? (Ezekiel 37:24-28 Ezekiel 40-48, Isaiah 33:20, Micah
4:1)
Did he bring physical restoration to all who are sick or disabled in any way? (Isaiah
35:5-6)
Was he preceded by Elijah? (Malachi 3:23-24-- 4:4-5 in KJV)
Did the nations help the Jews materially? (Isaiah 60:5, 60:10-12, 61:6)
Does eternal joy and gladness characterize the Jewish nation? (Isaiah 51:11)
Are Jews sought for spiritual guidance? (Zechariah 8:23)
Is the Egyptian river dry yet? (Isaiah 11:15)
Do trees in Israel yield new fruit every month? (Ezekiel 47:12)
Did each tribe receive it's inheritance? (Ezekiel 47:13-14)
Is the enemy buried? (Ezekiel 39:12)
Did he accomplish these tasks without tiring or failing? (Isaiah 42:4)
Did death cease? (Isaiah 25:8)
Are the dead resurrected? (Isaiah 26:19, Daniel 12:2, Ezekiel 37:12-13)

Then no, J*sus is not messiah.

2) J*sus did everything contrary to what a Messiah would do. Most importantly, he did magic tricks/'miracles.' It is written that the messiah will not need to do them to prove he is messiah, and that the one who tries to claim he is messiah by doing those kind of tricks is a FALSE prophet.

Here is some good literature on the subject:

there is no such thing as a Messianic Jew. You cannot be a Jew and believe in J*sus. Your husband was tricked.

No, because there IS no second coming. One of the prophesies is that he'll fulfill all the OTHER ones without dying. So J*sus is totally out. Sorry.

"Jesus=Messiah" is not a "fact" like the law of gravity or the speed of light. It is a religious belief held by a minority of the people in the world. A matter of faith, if you will. You can try to use scripture as evidence to support your case, but that's an exercise in frustration. The texts are open to all sorts of interpretation, there are internal contradictions, and many believe they are not literally true. Also, who is to say that one religion's holy books are more valid than those of the next religion?

I could post a question saying, "If you're Christian, how come you don't believe Jesus was a fake? All the facts are there!!" Would you find this persuasive? Would it inspire you to convert to Judaism? I think not.

So how about you enjoy being Christian, and I'll enjoy being Jewish, and we both have a happy holiday season.

No, they are not, actually.

In the Tanakh ('old' testament/Jewish bible) there are specific details as to how we are to recognise the true messiah. Among other things, he/she will bring peace on earth - Jesus never did this. Nor did he fulfill ANY of the other conditions required.

Christians try to insist that Jesus is mentioned in the Tanakh - he is not, not even once. Anyone who understands hebrew, or who has bothered to do their research, will know that Christians rely on wrongly translated hebrew for their claims about Jesus.

Jesus was just a young radical, one of many. He lived and died as a practising Jew and it was only some time after his death that people like Paul elevated him to the status of deity/son of G-d etc. Paul never even met Jesus.

EDIT TO ASKER

- No, Jesus was not the 'king of the Jews'.

And yes, we still await the real messiah, as detailed in the Tanakh.

Hope this has helped, for more info, try http://www.whatjewsbelieve.org/

EDIT TO ASKER - PLEASE ALLOW ME TO CLARIFY.

'messianic jew = Christian. Simple as that.

A 'messianic jew' has the same beliefs as any Christian. Your husband is not Jewish. Only Jewish religious law can define who is Jewish, Christians don't get to define that FOR us. A person is either Jewish OR Christian - they cannot be both. The religions are mutually exclusive.

'Real' Jews are inherently 'messianic' as we await the real messiah. So the term you mention makes no sense whatsoever. Your husband is a Christian and both he and you should be honest and upfront about that.

By the way - do you know how much money the 'messianic jews' spend every year in a bid to convert 'real' Jews to Christianity? No? Look it up online. You'll get a shock.

also: the Torah and NT do NOT go 'hand in hand'.

Claiming to be "King of the Jews" is exactly what got him in trouble with the Romans. They appointed the king from within their ranks and crucified rabble rousers. The streets of Jerusalem were lined with thousands of crosses bearing the rotting bodies of Jews. There is nothing about Jesus that makes him special.

The belief that God would become human is the ultimate heresy!

The NT was plagiarized from the Hebrew Bible. Of course it all points to Jesus because the NT stories have been crafted to do just that! Prophesy must precede the event, not be crafted to fit the prophesy!

All the facts, in the Christian Bible, you mean. In Christianity, the Christan Bible was written by men, who made up the religion........with alot of help from the Council of Nicea.

I do not accept the Christian Bible. So, that is why I do not believe as you.
