I am wondering why your therapist picked this particular medication because there are so many newer ones on the market right now. As him why he picked this one and then ask if he could prescribe one of the new medications that have less side effects. All medications have side effects when you first start them - it just goes with having something new in your body but usually goes away soon. Don't pick out the worst side effect on a drug handout and then zero in on that as a deciding factor as to whether you will take it or not. Look at the most commonly occurring side effects listed and realize that you may have one or two of those and that they will go away. Continue working with your therapist and come up with a solution.

First of all, have you been tried on other medications? If not, then maybe you should talk with your doctor about trying something else....
The reason I say this is because Geodon is usually the last of the line as far as trying something that will work...and this medication may not work either...
Usually doctors that prescribe this medicine have tried everything else...is this the case with you?
If you haven't been tried on the other meds that are available for your condition...you may want to get another opinion or talk with your own doc about something else that might be available to and for you.

Start it, but keep an eye on things. I think you'll find you feel a whole lot better about yourself.

Good luck!
