Election - no matter who you choose you lose.

The President does have a lot of power, but the system is so corrupt I doubt anything major will change. I have read up on the history of the major candidates, most of it was negative. Even if the new president want major changes, the interest groups won't allow it.
But who knows at least he won't be as bad as the current president.

In South Korea there needs to be several reforms.

Education system - Are they really learning anything? With all those poor students pounds the books and hakwons shouldn't they be inventing perpetual motion machines by now? Don't teach them to memorize crap, help them think independently.

High tech jobs & economy - Not enough jobs for the college educated. Govt need to worry about creating new jobs rather protect old outdated ones.

Reduce corruption - No hope for this one.

Military - I think the changes are heading in the right direction, but so slow.

Foreign policy - Seriously, Korea will never be a superpower. However, they can and should develop better relationship with the neighboring countries. Quit complaining about what the other countries are doing. Get more politcal influence!!!!!

I agree with JD, although I think the next president will be a critical factor over the direction of North and South relations. Some of the Koreans here are nervous about North Korean socialism infiltrating some of the officials in the central government. There is starting to be an outcry for reforms that are dangerously close to socialism. I'm not trying to invoke a red scare by any means, but I do believe that it would be a relatively easy task to infiltrate a corrupt South Korean gov't.

Not really, but I'm curious to see who will win. I don't think it will change my life at all regardless of who wins --- unless there's widespread rioting and/or looting or another anti-Americanism movement instituted.
