I know it may sound od,but I'm not from USA and I just did as adviced....
Somebody told me that I shouldn't worry about doing the taxes, working as a dancer.
Now I've found out that it DID matter and I need to file my taxes, just like other people even though I work as a exotic dancer.
I would have been done it in the first place, but like I said...I'm not from here.
If I ask my supervisor for my past tax papers, are he gonna have the one from other past years as well?

When are the taxes due?

Thanks from someone who's trying to "clean up" her financials!

Some people try to evade taxes on jobs like yours. But if your employer gives you tax papers, like a W-2 or 1099, then the IRS has been notified of that income - they match them up with filed returns, so eventually they'll get caught for sure, and will have to pay penalties. The IRS match can take a couple years for them to get to so it can be quite awhile. Even if the employer doesn't give you one of these forms, you might still get caught and be in trouble. You're wise to get this cleaned up.

Your employer should be able to give you forms from previous years.

The tax returns for money you earn in 2007 are due on April 15, 2008. The older years are already overdue, so get them in as soon as you can. There will be penalties for filing late, but the later you file, the bigger the penalties will be.

Good luck.

If the club was following tax laws, you should have been told to report all of your tip income each day to the supervisor so it could be added to your total income. When you were paid, there should have been a paycheck and a stub showing how much money was withheld for taxes. At the end of the year, you should have received a W-2.

Alternately, the club may have tried to classify you as an independent contractor (not allowed, but they often try) and then they would have told you to track your own tips and they would give you a 1099-Misc for any pay they promised you. (These same clubs will often claim the dancers worked for tips only so they didn't feel obligated to track any income or file anything.)

So, unfortunately, when you ask the supervirsor or the club manager for a copy of your tax papers, they may tell you there aren't any. If they say, they had them, but they don't have them any more, you should be able to get a copy from the IRS (who gets them after they are filed by the payer).

Whether the income was reported or not, you were supposed to keep your own records. Start figuring out what you got. Did you keep a list of the tips? Did you deposit any of it into a bank account or did you just spend it? What did you spend it on? How much did those things cost.

Once you get a total, file.

If you're self-employed, quarterly estimated opayments are due on 4/15, 6/15, 9/15 and 1/15 of the following year. The return needs to be filed and any balance paid by 4/15 of the following year.
