She'll be 19. She complains about how since her birthday is right after Christmas, it never feels special.

Keep in mind I'm a college student who doesn't have a ton of cash.

I know 11 months isn't a huge deal, not quite a year, so I probably won't make too much out of it, but the rest...

It will be her 19th birthday.
I don't have tons of money

We go to different colleges, so it's a long-distance relationship and Christmas is the only time we'll see each other for a couple months

She complains about how her birthday never feels special because it's right after Christmas...

Rob a bank... and better do it quick.. You are gonna need a lot of cash.

ok... Say it with flowers. Will not cost you a bomb... and are often almost as effective as rings. I have taken fire many times in the past for buying expensive gifts but not giving flowers along with them. May be it's just me and her but the feedback I got was... gifts come from money.. flowers come from heart

I know you bought her a diamond pendant but silver necklace and matching earrings might be good. Also how about a matching set of hat, scarf and gloves to go with the winter coat you are thinking of buying her. I see you say you don't like 'soapy' stuff but my daughters love travel sizes of shampoo/conditioner/toothpaste/other toiletries etc which they can take on overnight stays or on holidays rather than the heavier regular sizes. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that she won't! How about tickets to a concert, year's entry to the local cinema, voucher for dinner for two.

awwwwwwwww! congrats!
ok. so, my friends bday is on xmas. and u know what we do for her? winter has so many great things to do! snowball fights, sledding, starbucks w/ marshmallows, truth or dare, oh yeah, and secret santa. so i suggest you plan her whole entire day! hav a great time in the snow, warm up w/ hot chocolate, watch a romantic movie, and walk her home. then when you get to her house, hang a mistletoe over her head. and give her a kiss goodnight. make it a romantic night to remember.
and again
congrats on ur 11-month anniversary! merry xmas! :)

I know how you feel, my birthday is near xmas too (19th December) and it annoys me because at that time of year, we don't have the cash since it goes on xmas presents. Yes it's a bummer, I know what you mean.

Tell her that you have limited funds, and ask if she would rather have one large gift or two smaller gifts. Then ask which day would she like to received it/them.

Or you could ask if she would not mind celebrating her birthday in January, so that you can do something nicer for her.
