EDIT:
The car is from 2003 [ S80 T6 SE 4DR (1998-2006)] , the specs are are follows:
GEARTRONIC
17" Alloy Wheels
ABS + Elec Brake Distribution
Anti-theft Alarm
Autodimming Rear View Mirror
Cruise Control
ECC (Electronic Climate Ctrl)
Electric Folding Rear Headrests
Electric Heated Door
Mirrors
Electric Windows
Front Fog Lights
That's all the info that's given - I assume it's legit because it's from the local Volvo dealership....
Any advise would be hugely appriciated and I am clueless when it comes to cars!!!!

check with a Volvo repair guide - I think it may have a 60,000
service required - and that's one of the most major - like new timing belt - transmission flush, etc
double check on it, though

Make sure you have enough money afterward to pay for other bills (phone, car insurance, rent) so that way you aren't living paycheck to paycheck after you buy your new car. Next, if you are talking about a 2009 or a 2010 Hyundai, consider buying a 2007 or a 2008- this way, you can still get a warranty but the price of the car will proabably be around $10,000 versus $17,000 for a 2009 or 2010. As far as the Volvo, it may have a good wrap, but you never know who owned it before you and how well they took care of it. Especially if it was a lease- people usually never care about their leases because they're giving it away in two or three years anyway. So be weary of getting a lease. Also, have the dealer (I assume you are going to a dealer because you are getting a fairly new car) to show you a copy of the carfax. You can see what it was ever in the shop for. I'm not sure about your state laws, but here in Michigan you can see how many people have owned the vehicle from the title before you buy it. The less- the better. As far as warranties, definitely get one. I would also say to get a car that is one or two years old, this way you are not paying full price but you are still practically getting a brand new car WITH a warranty. Oh, and don't get that extra warranty that costs like $100 per month for 6 months or whatever. They'll ask you if you want one but that's just another dollar in their pocket. I bought a 2005 Mazda6 in Dec. 2008 that was a lease before I bought it. I didn't have a warranty and things started to go wrong- little things, like a broken clasp in the back seat, stained seats... stuff that was annoying. So I traded it in and got a 2008 Mazda6 with a warranty a few months ago and couldn't be happier! Good Luck!!!!!

At 56k, a Volvo is just nicely run in, with the very real prospect of another 150k miles or more on it. Just check it's kosher, with a full Volvo service history, and if it is due 'the big service' get the garage to do it before you buy.
You don't say what year or model it is, so it's hard to give an opinion about whether it's good value or not, but I'd expect it to be a well-specced 53/04 plate 170bhp petrol or D5 Diesel for that money.
Edit; That's the top of the range model, if it's at a Volvo dealer with a proper Volvo warranty, go for it, I fancy it myself if you don't take it!
