People don't hate you for that, they hate the opinions you spout that often make little sense and generally do not support what current soldiers are doing. When you use your veteran status to try and validate an off the wall opinions, you open yourself up to thier freedom of speech as well. Freedom of speech goes both ways, but I suspect you know that.
Why do you think you get a pass on your opinions because you served? I am serving, and I know people hate me for my opinions.

If you're bashing the C-i-C or chain of command, that's a no-no and you shouldn't be (publicly) doing that.
Otherwise, it's probably because you're offering liberal or other-than-republican viewpoints, and obviously if you do that you are clearly either a communist or a terrorist lover (because, as far as the lower classes know, that's what a liberal is).
If you're sharing your conservative views, then it is a mystery to me why the people around you are upset.

Lol, freedom of speech while in the military? I didn't even had that as a depended spouse. It's like any other job, my boss doesn't appreciate freedom of speech either :o) If it is people now, after you left, they simply consider you unpatriotic, not considerate of our man serving now, you claim your freedom of speech, let them claim theirs.

There's no such thing as freedom of speech. But there is such a thing as freedom of speech with conditions.

Not in the army. In the army, you never question orders. But if you're retired from the army - thats the only time you have freedom of speech.... it also depends on what you're trying to say....

I've seen some of your other questions, just because you have free speech doesn't mean everyone wants to listen to it.
