I think there are a couple of reasons. When Satan was thrown out of heaven, he landed here. This is his kingdom. After all he offered it to Jesus during the temptation of Christ. You would think Christ would know if it belonged to him to give away or not. Another reason is that Satan's job was to tempt believers away from God. This was to make Christians stronger in their belief. unfortunately Satan got out of hand.

Good question!
A better question may be; "Why does man allow Satan to influence him?" Man is given a choice. Man can choose to submit to the lies of the evil one, or to reject him and believe God.
It's amazing how unbelievers are so quick to blame God for the evil in the world but are willing to let "their father the Devil" off the hook without a word...
The Devil is the "father of lies", he is the "prince of darkness" and "man (in his natural depraved state) loves darkness rather than light because his deeds are evil."
It would be much better to allow God to place you into the "kingdom of His dear Son" than to remain in sin's darkness.
God will not do this against your will. He will not violate your right to reject Him... I hope you'll make the best choice... Repent of your sin and receive Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord.

God does not allow Satan to influence us. We do. Many well-meaning but misinformed Christians like to take the commandment. "Thou shalt have no other gods", in an effort to persuade people to become Christian. Satan loves it! The "false gods' to which the Ten Commandments refer are not Allah or Krishna or Shiva or Quan Yin, but lust, love of money, drugs, power, and all the things by which Satan tempts us.

Was It Satan's Century?
"AT ITS worst, this has been Satan's century. In no previous age have people shown so great an aptitude, and appetite, for killing millions of other people for reasons of race, religion or class."
The 50th anniversary of the liberation of innocent victims imprisoned in the Nazi death camps prompted the foregoing comment in an editorial in The New York Times of January 26, 1995. The Holocaust—one of the most widely known genocides in history—exterminated some six million Jews. Nearly three million non-Jewish Polish citizens perished in what has been termed the "Forgotten Holocaust."

Satan is just one being. He is not omnipresent. He can only be in one place at one time. I think he's asleep in the White House right now or at least whispering in GW's ear. The little guys are worth wasting his time over.
People want to blame satan for all there woes when they themselves are to blame.
