The Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses is a global religion which believes in respecting local sensibilities in most human relationships. The advice suggested by a Witness in a metropolitan area of the United States might be read with horror by a Witness living in a rural area of India, for example.

In the United States, it would seem odd and off-putting for a brother who had just met a sister to ask her out on a "date" per se. It would seem much more reasonable for him to ask if he could "call"/"write"/"email" her and then ask for the contact information in order to do so.

In addition, the high moral standards of Jehovah's Witnesses typically means that they limit circumstances which tend to lead to intimate familiarity and sexual arousal. Among Witnesses, so-called "group dating" is far more common than isolated pairs going off on their own. This is not mere "double-dating" or "couples-only", but a mixed group which may even be intergenerational.

Thus, it may be relatively easy for a smitten brother (or sister) to himself arrange for a group to go on a hike, or bowling, or skating for example. Once he has a few committed to the plans, he can invite a person in whom he is "interested". While there is no need to make it clear that she will be his particular special guest, the inviter may choose to do so at any point before, during, or after the "date".

It should be noted that the bible itself and the publications of Jehovah's Witnesses have many fine suggestions to keep in mind as young people (and other single folks) begin to initiate dating and courtship.

Jehova's Witnesses are not meant to start dating until they are ready for marrige. If you are under 18 you shouldn't do this.

If you are well, you're not meant to lie so it would be wise to be direct, yes.

Unless JWs are taught to be decietful, it is always a good idea to be direct.

But, hey, getting a group of mutual friends, of which she is one, has always been a good method of getting to meet them first.
