ok, so now i understand why my cat was behaving wierd. he was a bit hyper too. he's calmed down now.
but has anyone hear heard of a cat that is not affect by catnip? the older cat i was talking about earlier never seemed interested in cat nip anyway and we've had her for a little over a year.
i tried to get her to smell the massage gel that smells strong like mint. she would sniff it, suspiciously, but isn't interested. the ingredients in the gel is menthol 2.6mg/ml (active ingredient).
she's kind of a strange kitty anyway. mostly main coon and a little bit black tabby.

There is actually a gene that is inherited in cats which is what creates that strong appeal of catnip to cats. About 30% of cats don't have it and won't respond to catnip. It's a "catnip gene"
So yes it is normal for a cat not to like catnip, or for a cat to like catnip. I have three cats and two out of the three love it.

Not all cats like catnip. You might want to wait and try again a little later in your cats life. Also make sure you are getting pure catnip, a lot of the store brand catnip is just filler and cats won't get the full effect. I buy mine online, just search for a catnip ranch on Google. Also some cats like the scent of Honeysuckle.

There are many cats who don't react to catnip or mint. I'd say about half of the cats I have owned don't care about catnip at all.

I even have 3 cats and out of the three that's the two male cats that pass loopy as quickly as I positioned the stuff on the floor. i for my section in basic terms could desire to %. up the jar and pa the lid and the only starts off to pass loopy meowing and rolling everywhere in the floor waiting for it. i understand while they have been kittens they have been to not stupid with regard to the stuff. i'm undecided why, even though it style of feels as they become previous that is while they get greater fascinated interior the cat nip. My female cat will roll around in it IF she gets of challenge too. the two male cats pass so loopy for it that when I positioned it down they gained't enable her any the place close to it. even however I take and positioned some in yet another room in basic terms for her!!!

actually, most cats are immune to catnip. mine don't really seem to like it, either.

my cats love it,but my daughters 2 cats not boathed about it.
