Vedas, the Darsanas or Visions that happen when thought, word and deed are in line and in harmony within and without for one.

May be Lord Krishna from whom Gita came, was the Avatar, the Incarnation with harmonious Thoughts, Words and Deeds within and without.

Perhaps sages and ancient Visionaries were achievers to reach that stage of Harmony to give out Vedas, the Visions ..

Geeta is based on major philosophy of sanatan dharma?

There are two major philosophies in the world.

Oriental / Eastern Philosophy
Occidental / Western Philosophy

Oriental / Eastern Philosophy is also called as tatva shAstram / Vedantha Shastram in Sanskrit.

There are six systems of Indian Philosophy (Darshanas). Basically six Rishis [Six muni's] see these Tatvas and try to explain them to us through words [Akshrartham]. These we call them as "tatva shAstrams".

Darshanam is a Sanskrit word that means a vision or an insight into something that is profound or hidden.

Advaitha Darshana and Dwaitha Darshana are the two categories into which all Darshanas fall. Under Dwaitha there are several Darshanas of Asthikas as well as Nasthika school.

However there 6 major philosophies in Hinduism :

Sl No Dharshana (philosophy) Sage / Muni who saw it
1 Nyaya Gowthama Muni
2 Sankhya Kapila Muni
3 Vaiseshika Kanaada Muni
4 Purva Mimamsa JayMini
5 Uttara Mimamsa Veda Vyaasa
6 Yoga / Yoga Sutra Patanjali

------------------------------------------------------

Answer to your question :

Geetha (Bhagwath Geetha) comes under "Uttara Mimamsa" philosophy (under Oriental /Easter Philosophy) by Veda Vyaasa Rishi.

"Love for the Lord" Philosophy.

All the religions are based on the same philosophy mate. In some -- due to the modern day and age -- the true philosophy is slightly skewed but they are all one in the same if you see carefully.

It's not based on any philosophy. It's the eternal truth by Lord Krishna... The ultimate spirituality.....

It's not part of Mahabharatha. It's just retold in mahabharatha thats all.

"SamaBhava" -- the great Balance of Mind! The Equillibrium, that provides strength and direction to your instincts, your "anthakkarana" or "Manassakshi" to recognise the sanathana dharma in its numerous functioins in this 'unreal' and somewhat 'deceptive' life! Geetha is perhaps based on that one foundation, the "Balance"!
