The orthodontist will adjust the braces so that your teeth will look more attractive. If the gap isn't in a good place, the braces will move the teeth closer together to fill in the gap.

my boyfriend got braces about a year ago and his gap between his front teeth got a lot bigger after the first couple months but since then his teeth have gotten a lot closer. My gap never got bigger though while i had braces. if it does get bigger, it probably just means that the teeth are moving around a bit and it will eventually close when the rest of your teeth get settled. im sure your orthodontist wont let you leave with a huge okie gap anyways.

you get gaps if your teeth are crammed together they have to seperate them before pushing them back. I have a gap in my front teeth and had braces I was told after that the gap would continue to return unless I had my gums clipped which I refused haha! So it all just depends!

Sometimes the orthodontist will require your teeth to be separated so that he/she can straighten it out and eventually force your teeth to grow together. It just depends on the condition of your teeth.
