Strategically there's no hesitating: learn Russian!
Why? Because, it will be certainly more difficult for you but knowing English you owe the key for Germanic languages (German, Dutch, Swedish for instance!)
Speaking Spanish, you can later learn easily French or Portuguese.
Mastering Russian you'll be able to communicate with ex-USSR and people in Eastern Europe (provided they're more than 40!) what's more Russian is a gateway to Bulgarian, Czech, Ukrainian.
A Germanic language, a Romance language and a Slavic one.
In millions people Russian is spoken by 285 and Italian 70 (French 320).
So between these languages Russian is the best whether it's for pleasure or professionnally.
Since you speak already English and Spanish another excellent choice would have been French (quite similar to Spanish!) and the ONLY language (apart from English) to be official (35 countries)on the five continents and taught all over the world. It's often the second foreign tongue (after English) or even the first one! (North Africa,Belgium,Switzerland,Roumania,Moldavia,Lebanon etc...) where English isn't mandatory at school French is.
I find it useful for you to have a look at this website to make your mind up:http://how-to-learn-any-language.com/e/languages/index.html
I hope it helps.

Spanish being your first language, you'll be able to master Italian no problem, it'll be really easy for you and you could do it later in life.
I say choose Russian, because it's a beautiful language (then again, I'm biased since I know Russian and not Italian) and once you master it, you will not only be able to communicate with a sixth of the world (that's how much Russia takes up!), but you will also open the door to some of the greatest books in existence. I think that I'd miss so much if I wasn't born into a Russian family, I mean the immense variety of books and films is so fantastic! In short,go for Russian =D

I would choose Russian. It will be more of a challenge for you but more rewarding because of it. Apart from the fact that it could help you with work (as Russia is rapidly expanding in business) there is a wonderful history and culture behind it. Imagine being able to read classics such as "War & Peace" in their original language. Learn it now that you are young and your mind has its full learning potential. You can leave Italian for later as it will be much easier for you since you already speak Spanish. Good luck.

You seem quite young with a life ahead of you.
Russia, under Putin, is rapidly becoming an enigmatic state again.
I see plenty of opportunities occuring for fluent Russian speakers. Perhaps a spy?
Italy, on the other hand, will always be there for a holiday. And, if you already speak enough to get you by. Then you should have no problem getting a sun lounger.
Go for the Russian, more opportunities, in a higher level of employment.

If you want to have a more useful language, choose Russian. Russian can be used in ex-Soviet states such as Georgia. So it's a little like English when you travel in Eastern Europe.
I think that Italian is more beautiful but less useful. It depends on what you want to do with your language.

Italian. You'll find it easy because you know Spanish and they're very similar. And its a very romantic and melodic language. The culture is great- good food, very passionate people and a very rich history.
Of course I'm just pushing it because I learn it. Russian is a cool language too, very cold country though.

Learning Russian won't be ANYTHING like learning the languages you already know. They use a different alphabet! It will be much, MUCH harder to learn than Italian.
But if you want to learn Russian -- go for it!

Russian is more useful since it is more popular and there are more Russian speakers in the world and the Russian population in US alone is very high. However, it is extremely difficult to learn. However, Italian is more romantic.

I would say Russian, cause Italian and Spanish have alittle resemblance. Russian is not spoken allot in the US. I think that would be interesting to learn.
