There are actually two reasons for that. First, to protect the medication from light, which might decompose it. The other thing is that most of the medication bottles are made of recycled glass, and it's not necessary for them to have a clear colour like ones used for beverages.

Easy

1. Light is a form of energy- the glass bottles contain almost always a liquid medication- and the light can sometimes cause a photosensitive medication to change its usability, reactivity, and may alter it to be useless or toxic.

2. The glass bottles are recycled, so hospitals get more bang for their buck.

3. Glass is a very important semi-solid. Its silicon properties allow long time storage with minimal seepage since the glass is locked in place. All Plastics with have leeching problems. Storing a liquid in a plastic bottle will gaurantee a chemicals change in composition.

When light, which has a high frequency, hits a clear bottle, it will decompose the chemicals inside the bottle. With a brown bottle, when the light hits the bottle, that energy is converted into heat energy and heat does not decompose the chemicals. The tint also helps reduce most of the energy from the light that can decompose/alter chemicals.

Certain medications are sensitive to light and the brown or amber bottle is to protect it from light. I believe that there are medications which become weaker when exposed to light for a prolonged period of time.

Light is a form of energy that can cause chemical changes in some substances. Those chemicals that may be subject to such change are stored in dark bottles.

some medications need to be in a dark place because sunshine can effect on them.
infact sunshine causes some reactions in them and makes the medications expire or change them to a harmfull medicine.
if you need more explanation:
medications are consist of some chemical elements and sunshine is a factor which can effect on them and make a reactions which changes their affections.

well, medications are chemicls and some of them are photosensitive.Meanig they would undergo degradation when exposed to light destroying the original formulation of the medication.
