Alright here's whats happening, I sent about 10 resumes out on Monday and got a response for two jobs by Wednesday (today) and one of them, i have an interview for tomorrow. The thing is, the work hours really aren't what i am looking for, but i am desperate for a job in the finance industry and this jobs gives me exposure. The thing is, this job starts on Monday and over the phone, it sounded like they were kind of desperate to get me to start work asap. . I sent out 10 resumes and have only got back two responses so far (2days) so i do expect more in the coming week or so. I don't want to start and then have to leave the job if i find something better for me. Since this job isn't my first choice, i want to know what kind of options i have.

Well the job I applied for did not say that it was a 5pm-9pm job. Since it didn't say, I assumed it was a day job. All the jobs i had applied for, i did so knowing that it suited me, but this one didn't say anything about starting at 5pm. They asked me over the phone if the shift were good for me, but out of nervousness, i said yes . . . It's not that i CANT work during those hours, but it would mean, i have to quit my basketball team and my Krav Maga class, both which i had paid rego fee and all.

I do know I will get at least one more response, but in terms of getting to the interview stage with the other jobs, i'm not too sure. Really the main thing is, if i accept it so early, without even considering other jobs, i would have to quit this job a week or two in, to work for another.

Go to the interview and see how things look. After you talk to them, the job might seem better to you, even though the hours aren't what you'd like - or it might seem worse and you won't be interested. If you get an offer, then you'll have a decision to make. If you take the job and something MUCH better comes up, then it's not unreasonable to grab the second one even though it means quitting the first one after a very short time. And if nothing better comes along for awhile, then at least you've got a job in your field, and are building your resume.

Are you saying it's not enough hours, or that it's night shift or something? Most finance jobs I'd think would be weekdays, daylight shift. If it's just part time, and something full time comes up, then you have a smooth reason for a quick exit.

Good luck.

As somebody who has completed the interviewing, recruiting and hiring for a organisation, i think of i'm able to allow you to out. First, i % to advise no longer pointing out the 1st pastime at your interview. while human beings I interviewed introduced out that information the interview replaced into very often downhill afterwards. it continually feels like an attempt to create a bidding war on your amenities. The interviewer, in recognizing a stable tournament for the attainable pastime, will already word that a stable candidate could be snatched up by way of different agencies. He/she would not ought to be reminded. 2nd, bypass on your first pastime and commence working, except you're presented the 2nd pastime earlier you easily commence paintings. It seems such as you already primary the pastime, so honor that dedication. this can furnish the prospect to ascertain out the paintings environment and stipulations, and could insure which you have a minimum of one in each and every of the two jobs. If presented the 2nd pastime, and you settle directly to settle for it, provide the 1st organisation a a million-week word. except you have worked there for some months there is not any ought to furnish the total 2-week word. this is honest to the organisation you would be leaving, and could no longer unduly inconvenience your new organisation. finally -- if presented the 2nd pastime merely before commencing paintings on the 1st one, touch the 1st organisation and enable them to appreciate of your concern. this is the right ingredient to do. That we could them understand to commence the hiring technique for yet somebody else and would not leave somebody caught finding for you on what could have been your first morning at paintings.

If you sent out that many resumes it looks like finding a job is rather urgent. Now all of a suddent it isn't that urgent, becauser you don't like the hours.
What DO you want? So, what will you do if you don't get any more responses? How do you know you will?

If you were really serious about finding the right job, you would let the company that you were supposed to start with on Monday know that you will not be coming to work for them. Do that right away so that they will be able to fill the position.
It sounds like you really don't want the job anyway.
