i wonder what's up with the 13th floor. where i worked there was 12A and 12 floor only. what is the story behind 13th floor?

Hotels do not have 13th floor or number 13 room. That is why they put a bible in every room.

A lot of people used to have fear of the number 13, so older buildings would 'skip' floor 13 using the 12/12A trick, or just by going straight from 12 to 14.

It's not so common anymore, so almost all modern buildings have a 13th floor.

Triscadecaphobia - the fear of the number 13. Since it's "unlucky", many buildings refuse to admit they have a 13th floor.

13 is a unlucky number. Many high rises don't have floor 13.
