LIC policy as passport address proof in India?

Question

Hi,

I am an Indian so if you have knowledge about procedures here then feel free to answer.
I have a damaged passport so I am getting a new one made. My address has changed. I dont have a rent agreement. But I have a LIC policy which I had got one year back and it has my current address on it.
My question is can I use LIC policy reciepts/bond as my address proof for the new passport ?

The proof of address can be given of any of these documents for the purpose of getting passport :-Applicant’s ration card, certificate from Employer of reputed companies on letter head, water /telephone /electricity bill/statement of running bank account/Income Tax Assessment Order /Election Commission ID card, Gas connection Bill, Spouse’s passport copy, parent’s passport copy in case of minors. (NOTE: If any applicant submits only ration card as proof of address, it should be accompanied by one more proof of address out of the above categories). The LIC policy I think can be considered for this purpose , as you have to summit your damaged passport also & the address in that old passport will be in the records of the passport authorities to confirm it further.

(NOTE: If any applicant submits only ration card as proof of address, it should be accompanied by one more proof of address out of the above categories). You have not clarified whether in your father's ration card your name appears. If not it is valid. For additional address proof you have to have any one of the above. If you do not have please spend time creating these documents. It would save you time. Passport is after all the mother document and PP office is not going to entertain loose documents in lieu. However the good news is National Identity card generation is progressing reasonably and you can get another master document which would eliminate all these trouble!
