Hi
I can empathize with that. However I can say as I grown older through the years I've realized a few things. One is everyone in creation is where they need to be, and just as you would not chastise a small child for being ignorant of adult norms, as you grow spiritually you simply have an understanding of the paths we all have walked and understand them as such, as it was once told to me, you may be working as a grad student, but you can't expect a kindergartner to know what you know. Meaning, you may not like or even hate the way others behave and think, but they are evolving as you once were, so the best course to follow, is prayer and love. Part of the evolution of this saying is because it's true unfortunately or otherwise depending on your view. I know this probably doesn't help all that much, but it's done with a kind heart through peace and good will. Many blessing to you.

Hi there, Hey I think both statements are true. But here is the catch, The more a person is in tune and honest with who they are and what they are all about the less they have to feel like something they don't like about another person is in themselves. I think you are right that it usually means the other person's fault bothers you because you know how wrong that is and are the opposite of them. But I know of a few associates who are not facing their own faults in life and not trying to improve themselves enough who will tell me how rude another person is and how they hate what they do and I LOL inside because it is the same thing they do and don't face it. But like I said these are the people who choose to be blind to their own faults and the reason the fault in another bothers them so much is because deep down inside unconsciously they are bothered by the same fault in themselves.

The origin of this statement has merit.
It is quite easy to see the faults in others, if you have the same fault yourself. You are familiar with that fault, and can therefore empathize with the person in question.
It doesn't mean that you're like that person, necessarily. It just means that, at least in one point in your life... you were.
Being able to see the faults in others is to an extent, a gift. But it can be a bit humbling at times to recognize the fact that the reason you are so keen on the subject, is because you have personal experience.
But having experience, and learning from it... is truly priceless.

What you are pointing out is that you don't like people (across the board) who do something that you find offensive. We all do that, and we all recognize it.
Think of someone that you just never were able to get along with - but you just couldn't put your finger on the "why" behind it. You very well may see in them a particular character flaw that you struggle with yourself.
It's not a silly statement - it really happens.

Ariana,
I agree with you that I do not fully agree with the statement. However, if you "Hate someone for not showing compassion" then you too have done just what you dislike in others. HATRED is a terrible thing to have for anyone. CHRIST said that we are to "Love our neighbors" also to "Do unto others as we would have others do unto us". Have a great week.
Thanks,

You don't have to hate, but you do have the right to judged if that person is living the life that God does would not approve of. As stealing, sex, not taking care of the children and etc.

Sounds like something someone made up
I hate some because of thing(s) they've done to me, and others I hate just for hates sake.
I don't see myself in anyone.

People say a lot of silly things about hatred. Hatred is just as essential to human survival as is the equally powerful love.

I suppose that one might take another who has the same qualities as the other and decide that they are in competition with one another. Honestly, haven't you ever noticed two people who are so alike, and they constantly bicker? (Like a daughter and a father, or mother and son) Some outside observer would say to them: "You two are SO much alike!!!" and they both get disgusted. "I'm NOTHING like her/him.!!!"
That's never happened to you?
