I got into Christianity for awhile earlier this year... I was the biggest bible thumper you've ever seen... KJV all the way, I read that book inside and out, but all of my Christian friends, they hardly ever read the bible, they think all they need is blind faith, even doing things the bible totally forbids is ok if you have "faith."
Several told me they didn't even need a book. After I got out of it, and started showing a Christian friend all of the fallacies in the bible, one told me he didn't need that "stupid book" (a Christians words not mine)... all he needed was his faith in an imaginary being......
Anyways glad I got out of that crap, I can't believe I fell for your story about the SUN in the first place.

Look bible thumpers, I know what the entire book is based upon, your scare tactics to try to keep people in your religion are laughable... So keep suckin down that bible sludge, and believing that crap, and yes I have read the bible.. and I have understood it in the way that the church wanted it to be understood, then I came to realize that it was all mostly just a story based around the SUN, and the Zodiac.

Your friends sound like idiots.
I've lost count of how many times I've debated Christians and beat their asses because they had no idea what they were talking about, scripturally speaking, and get this, I am not even Christian! Then they get on my case about how arguing about religion is an offense against GOD. Really? I would imagine putting words in GOD's mouth to be far worse.

They think they are Christians, but they are not. They sin over and over again and say Jesus died for their sins and everything will be forgiven. They don't learn from their mistakes and don't follow the 10 commandments either. They have no clue about Christianity and they are hypocrites as well. They live a lie and they don't even know it, to say that they "don't need that stupid book" says it all.But those are not true Christians and I am sorry you had that experience, however this should not have any affect on you, because you know right from wrong and you should concentrate on your believes. I think it is wonderful that you got the bible and read it. I am myself are starting reading the bible again, because it's been a long time since I have read it and nobody is going to spoil it for me. I would suggest, that you go to a different church group with a different outlook on Christianity.
God bless you

When God wanted to tell us about Himself He spoke One Word: The Word was God. The Word became human flesh and blood. The Word pitched His tent among Us. We human beings cannot speak what we mean in one word. we need to use lots of them. Even then we do not bring out everything we want to express. Thus we are forced to write volumes about what God is.
Most Christians know that the Word God Spoke is Christ. Persons tell us the Most and the Best about God. In Hebrew "dabar" means both word and deed. So when God "dabars" God says and does at the same time. Perhaps we forget that literacy is not an experience most people have, or every did have. Thus we use images, music, acts of charity, worship, symbols and reasoning to understand what God has said to us. The meaning will always be Christ. So if some Christians do not read the Bible they may still have a very deep and accurate understanding of God revealed in Christ. The limited expressions of the human words in the Bible cannot express completely who God is, or even who we are. We must try to read and reason as we can, but then always allow Christ to be the touchstone for the Truth we approach. We will never exhaust it. We may not even like the taste. However God will use these many words to bring us to understand how God is genuinely a Loving Father whose Loving Son is still among us.

Many Christians are raised with their faith, and don't believe they need to read a Bible in order to know how to live it. (I would disagree, but hey, my opinion probably doesn't count..) Of course, the King James version is a pretty slaughtered version of the original thing anyway.. a bunch of monks and such changed it to suck up to James (I or II, can't remember), who was VERY anti.. everything. (Although at the same time flamingly gay, which I find ironic), then he killed them all for changing the Bible, then adopted it, as I understand it.
Of course.. the most likely answer to your question, and it pains me to say it (sorry about the detour, by the way..) is that the majority of people these days.. don't care to read. Even entertaining books, like fiction, much less a book as difficult to read as the Bible. I mean, think of all the "begat" sections!! "This guy begat this chick, who married this dude and they begat child a, b, and c.." You get the idea. So as mundane as it sounds, this combined with the earlier answer is the most likely reason.

You got into Christianity and you got out of Christianity?
You came face to face with the God of the Bible and you did not like Him is what you are trying to say. Now you are using other pathetic Christian stories to make yourself feel better.
Careful there sparky. If you are a child of God now by having accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, then you are about to get a butt whipping by your new Father.
If you are one of those who never had the Holy Spirit inside of you, just on you convicting you, and you now have returned to your old ways, then your nature never changed and you are like a Dog returning to eat his own vomit (because dude you just threw up all over Yahoo R & S with that rant).
Heb 4:12
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
(KJV)
Remember that old one? The deal is that you fell into sin, could not deal with it, so you just threw your hands up and said, "I quit".
I am sorry you did not have better support at church, home or where ever. But you are not going to get off with the Lord by blaming others and lashing out because of your own immaturity.
Be careful. If you are indeed His child, He will discipline you. Better to get things right ASAP.

I am in a dispute with God over the bible at this time in my life. But I do have KJV for reference. 650 english bibles, still the #1 seller. Feels like it is a money making machine(lost its soul to the devil) Catholic have a bible all to their own. I just need God to answer my prayer and pick one out for me or say they are all ok, before I really read this book. I have read it once front to back. Funny really I seem to feel for wisdom in prayer, and I check with the bible and the wisdom I have is there. So I really need God to pick one for me, or say they are all ok. I will not walk my own way anymore.

They are in grave danger! "Yeshua said my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge". Not worldly knowledge but every word that comes from the mouth of Gods word the Bible. That their joy might be full and drink deeply of living water. This has a parallel to the story of the ten virgins!

Dan 12:10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Rom 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
Rom 1:30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Rom 1:31 Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
Rom 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Wow. Those probably were Christians by word only, since faith requires an understanding of what you believe in and a following of that belief.
