I have all the class for RN and LVN but one on each career but both require certain things to get in! For one RN I need to take the ACT and there is not another until Feb and I will not get in until Spring 2009, and the LVN I would need to take a medical terminology exam and would not be able to get in unti Spring 2009?? So what do I do wait for LVN or RN???

Registered Nurses are paid more than LVN's or LPN's (the term used in most states other than California). Some classes in a LVN curriculum might be transferable to an RN curriculum. Check with the institution that you plan to attend. There might be a benefit in getting an LVN and then working partime or fulltime while working on the RN. Back in the 70's I got an associate degree in nursing (2 years), passed the RN boards, and then worked full time for 3.5 years to get a BSN.

Well because I am currently a nursing student (BSN program) I would highly recommend doing the RN program. BUT, because getting into the RN program is highly competitive, I say you should do both. Take the ACT and take the medical terminology class. You have nothing to lose because you can't start until Spring 2009 for the RN or LVN program. Let's say if you don't get in the RN program (worse case scenario), you have a backup plan, the LVN program. So apply to both program and decide later which you want to do. You'll better your chance of getting into a RN or LVN program.

Good luck! let me know if you have any other questions! =)

Go for the RN program, preferably a BSN, u could not make a better career move. The pay scale is much higher for a RN than a LVN. Once u get ur degree in nursing, ur chances for promotions are much better and ur selection of work sites are much broader. In the future, u can go on to obtain a MSN if u so desire, which allows u to teach nursing. A very high salary and rewarding job.Ur future as a registered nurse is unlimited. Go for it and good luck.

As an RN, you will make greater and function greater possibilities than a surgical tech. The surg techs i know are quite often analyzing to be something else. that's a boring activity, status in one place for hours and handing contraptions to a well-being care provider.

RN is the more versatile career option today. LPNs find their greatest use in long term care for the elderly (this is sad, but true). With an RN there is more that you can do professionally and academically.

I would go RN since you can go Practioner or PA.

you should be able to breeze through terminology.

it really depends on self preference. balance out each of them
