Wow - 16 years age difference!
I can understand your mom being disturbed. I'm sure he has his reasons. I hope it is along the lines that she really likes him and he really likes her and the relationship is good...
When there is such a big age gap, often people suspect other things - like the 40yo woman being better established financially and being able to "look after him" etc.
I think there are certainly questions you should ask about the relationship - but the questions I'd ask are:
does she make him happy?
does he make her happy?
is this a long term thing or just playing around?
where do they want to go from there?
what's the cause for the attraction - what's going on in there?
It's not illegal. It's not even immoral. It's just a little difficult to know what they might have in common, so it is easy to assume the worst.

First, there was no question....so i'm assuming your question is how to handle the fact that your bro is dating this woman?
Be supportive... it could be a LOT worse, he could be dating a 24 y.o. crack addict with 3 kids that's on welfare. Maybe he's going through a phase or maybe he really cares for this woman. But he's an adult and you need to respect his decision. Does that mean you have to approve? NO but you telling him you don't approve will accomplish nothing more than driving a wedge between the two of you (and your mother and him).

There are several younger guys that like older women! It's not that he's trying to find a "mother figure" or even trying to upset you or your mom. Maybe he just likes the fact that she is older, more mature mentally and physically, and probably gives him more attention. I wouldn't let it bother me as long as he seems to be happy and she is not using him. Older women usually play less head games than younger ones. I think he will be fine.

Well your brother is 24 and basically an adult. I see a lot of younger guys dating much older women so I don't see what the big deal is.

Okay , first off its its his business, secondly he seems happy with her thirdly its his and that woman's choice. Last but not least a younger man likes older women.......... at least these days they do i dated a 47 yr old and i wasn't having problems with him . i think that if you are happy it has nothing to do with age color or anything like that now first as living at home goes i think that he should probably find another place to stay? i don't know but he seems happy!!

hey, if your brother is happy with her...let it be.. age is not a question when both are in love... the more you protect your brother against the woman, the more he will be attached to her.. keep off when it comes to the matters of the heart. its not your concern or your mother's its your brother and he is already 24 i guess he has a mind of his own now... i suggest continue loving and supporting your brother that is how to help him...

So what? They are both consenting adults. I guess I can see why your mom would feel a little uneasy, but theres nothing she can do.

If he is happy then who are you to say anything? Leave him alone. I'm 52 and my girlfriend is 28 and we are getting married.
