can you get a router at target? and how much are they around? and does the ps3 need to use that enternet cord that it came with or can you use another one?

You really need a router..

A router will allow you to connect multiple network devices to the internet..

check link below for a wireless router at Target ($69.99).. to get a wired router (they are cheaper.. like maybe $40) you would have to order it online from some place like newegg.com.. With the wireless router you can use your PS3s built in wi-fi to connect without an ethernet cable.. the Linksys router I linked to also has LAN ports so you can plug your PC in with an ethernet cable..

If you decide to go wired then any ethernet cable will work.. there is nothing special about the one which came with the PS3.. ethernet cables might be called 'cat 5' or 'cat 5e' they are all the same.. you don't want a 'crossover' cable.. those are different.. monoprice.com sells cheap ethernet cables online (second link)..

Good luck..

Just go down to a local store that sells computer stuff for instance Wal-Mart and ask them for a router, get in a conversation and decide which one would be right for you. There are many different kinds but in my mind it doesn't really matter for online gaming. I play Xbox 360 with a Linksys Wireless G + Speedbooster router but it is all up to you and how much money you have.

Yes, get a router. There are two types: wi-fi and a wired type. Wi-fi is good, because it has no wires to trip over. Wired is good, because it's cheaper and more stable. If you'll buy wi-fi - you'll need wi-fi card for your PC, most laptops have built-in wi-fi. Buy router with VPN support. Then plug your modem into WAN plug and your PS3 and PC into other plugs (for wired). For wi-fi: plug the modem into WAN and make PC and PS3 search for it.
