I just received a phone call at 11:30 PM from a man stating he was from some investigation. He said I would have to surrender my car tonight or he would issue a warrant for my arrest and the car. Now, this car was repossessed before but It was alot different. They sent a letter saying it was going to be repo'd soon this time they didnt even send me a bill? I also have a 14 day grace period with my loan and its not up yet I have 6 more days till it comes. They are saying I owe 900$ in order to clear it. Im just confused. He never stated he was from a repo company jus that it was an invesigation. Also, my boyfriend has my car out of state and im nervous with him driving it. They said they wouldnt do anything until this coming Friday but all of it sounds too weird. If anyone knows anything about what they are doing here or if they even can do anything. Id love some help. I live in Massachusetts. So if you know about those laws Id be greatful. Thanks!

I don't know Massachusetts law, but I used to repo, so here's the deal. If you don't want to lose your car, hide it until you can make the payment. Wherever it is, back it in and cut the wheels so if they try to get it they will hit a wall or post and damage it. Block it in if you can. Do whatever you have to. The guy was from a repo company and what has happened is that the finance company has sent a potential list to a skip tracer. Their job is to find the car for the repo guys. Worst case scenario for the finance company is that you get scared and make your payment. If it were a cop that called you, they have to state that by law. They are trying to intimidate you. Don't let them. Pay as soon as you can. If there is a gps on the car, unhook it. They can track the car through that. Just take it to a mechanic and tell him to disconnect it and its power source for now. If there is a lo-jack on it, disconnect that too for now. Screw the repo company. That is the reason I left the business. I inherited it from my mom. The car companies are so morally bankrupt. They wanted us to lie so bad to people. Some people just can't help that they get behind and need a little more time. I couldn't keep hurting people that just needed a little break. Good Luck. I hope things get better for you.

First thing I wold do is call your loan company. Find out what is going on, cause they are the ones who would order a repossession. If they didn't order it, contact your local police and ask if they can help you figure out what is going on. Tell you want to cooperate, but you don't think this is valid. If it's an investigation, the police would have a record of it- since htey are the only ones that can seize your car for an investigation.

Next time he calls, ask him what the company is called, who ordered the seizure and for what reason. You are willing to cooperate, but don't understand why he wants the vehicle. If he can't answer those questions, then you don't need to give him anything, but keep your car hidden until he answers those questions.

first of all, most loan companies say they have a grace period when they really don't. that's so they can rack up on interest fees and late charges. if you are going to be late paying a loan, call them and tell them when you will be able to make the payment.
now, this phone call.......hmmm. sounds odd. if they were going to repo your car, the company would have contacted u before 5 and the recovery company wouldn't call and tell u anything. u would wake up in the morning and ur car would be gone. i would contact the local authorities and give them the number that called u, the see what to do from there. good luck

You need to call the bank or finance company your making payments to. Maybe it's a good thing your boyfriend has the car out of state. Sounds shady. If the finance company has no idea what you're talking about, you need to notify the authorities and give them all the information you have regarding the phone call.

By the way...if your boyfriend uses the car...he should also help make payments. You're obviously having a difficult time doing it yourself. Maybe he should step up to the plate or just not let him use YOUR car.

Just check with your lender.

If your boyfriend has the car out of State - it might be misconstrued that you are trying to hide the car to keep from being repoed....

Have seen legal action taken and the borrower being charged with something like "hindering merchant of secured credit."

If all else fails, you could probably go to an attorney for advice. They might not even charge you on first visit. There is always the Better Business Bureau that you could turn to.

Now run down and make your car payment!

Good luck and I hope this helps!

So, your loan payment isn't late? You're not behind on payments? They didn't put "forced placement" coverage on you, that you didn't pay?

They're not going to repo the car unless you owe them three months payments - which COULD be one month with forced placement coverage.

They won't issue an arrest warrant for you. But they CAN take the car.

When you finance or lease a vehicle, your creditor holds important rights on the vehicle until you've made the last loan payment or fully paid off your lease obligation.

These rights are established by the signed contract and by state law. If your payments are late or you default on your contract in any way, your creditor may have the right to repossess your car.

they can not repo you car without sending your montly statement . if they send you a monthly statement. if you have a payment book, you may want to check to make sure you did not skipp a month. also if you still have 6 days left on your grace period, I would just call them in the morning to verify what the man told you. Also if your car is not at the location that they have on file they can not come and get it, and like you stated it is not in town with you. just make sure you call them in the morning to verify you grace period and the caller as well as what your current montly payment is. make sure to get the number he called from off the caller id to veriy it with them when you call. hope this helps

This sounds like a scam and someone may be trying to steal your car. Even though you are behind on your note, it would be better to call the owner/company to see what is going on. It is better to be save than sorry. I would never give my car over to a stranger.
