I don't think I have ever had tilapia. I heard a rumor that it is a rather bland tasting fish. What does it taste great with? Does it take on the flavor of anything you add to it (I heard that rumor, too). Any expert help on how to cook it? Please DON'T offer me recipes on FRYING tilapia, considering how I no longer fry anything, especially fish (I now bake or grill fish).

Oh I love tiapia. Blackened or grilled is great. Its not bland, its mild, not fishy at all. Very tender and white meat. Seasons well with anything. Rachel Ray has some good tilapia recipes.

The DHA and omega 3's found in seafood is supposed too boost IQ. If you look at the enfamil formula, they contain DHA. As long as she stays away from Swordfish, and higher mercury containing fish she is fine. Also, you might have her talk to her doctor about an omega 3, dha supplement. Tuna is okay but is recommended about 1-2 cans a week and not more. Albacore tuna is best to stay away from as this can contain higher levels of mercury as well. You can also get the Enfamil brand but it is a little more expensive than just buying omega 3 and DHA supplements. As with any supplements ask your doctor and a doctor would be able to tell you what fish are to be avoided and which are allowed. Hoped this helps. Of course, it is also in how much education and time you give your child. You do not have to avoid all fish. Just Swordfish, abacore tuna and those fish high in mercury. Studies have shown this to "possibly" improve IQ, but the real improvement is how much you have taught your child throughout his/her growing years. 18 weeks pregnant with first.

Ghetto Pickled Tilapia

Pack your washed fish into a mason jar
heat salt and white vinegar to the simmer point
pour liquid into packed jars. Gently place jars in hot water bath for 10 minutes. Let sit for 2 months. Taste like tuna fish. Sorry charlie! LOL

I LOVE this fish!

I put it in the oven, frozen with Italian dressing covering it. Cook for about 30 mins @ 350. I also make it with a rice pilaf.

You can also do olive oil, lemon juice and garlic, which also tastes good with chicken...ENJOY!

I love tilapia. I like to dip it in egg whites, then roll it in Italian bread crumbs, bake at 350 for 20 min. (fresh) yummy!

Use any broiled, grilled or sauteed recipe you like-it has flavor, just quite mild.
