Don't use peroxide-it will irritate and abrade the freshly growing skin cells and will delay the healing. For right now, you could apply an antibiotic ointment, but it should be seen by a doctor. Otherwise, you could be in danger of having to take out the piercing. (But would that be so bad??)

I assume its some kind of lip piercing. You should have recieved instructions on proper aftercare from your piercer, which would NOT involve bactine. Bactine specifically says on the bottle "Not for deep puncture wounds" and a piercing just so happens to be exactly that.

If your piercing is producing pus, it is hot, unusually sore, or red then yes you may have an infection and need to see the doctor immediately.

If the "pus" is actually just a little bit of whitish fluid that dries to form a crust on the outside of your jewlery (which may be light yellow or white) then it is probably just lymph which is normal in a healing piercing. Lymph like this is just dead cells and dead bacteria that are being flushed out by the body. This is desirable and natural.

If you aren't sure which it is, then see your piercer or your doctor.

A week old piercing that has been sprayed down with bactine would be sore and hard to move. Peroxide will add to the aggravation by drying out the skin even more.

The usual oral piercing instructions are to clean the outside of the piercing with sea salt solution soaks 2-3 times a day. You can also use anti-bacterial soap in addition. To clean the inside you need to rinse with a non-alcoholic mouthwash after eating or drinking anything other than water for two weeks. Continue your regular oral hygine after that like brushing morning and night to keep clean.

See your doctor or your piercer just in case you really do have an infection. If it is just sore and dry from the bactine, getting on a better cleaning routine will help.

Go see a doctor. Don't take the chance of it getting worse. An infection should be taken serious. There is no home remedy that can cure it at this stage. An antibiotic is probably what your doctor will give you to take and to ditch the piercing.

See a doctor. You don't want to fool around with infections. People don't realize that an infection can be fatal if left untreated. All it takes is a simple visit to your family doc and get a prescription for some oral antibiotics.

I agree see doctor. Lots of bacteria in the mouth, and you do have an infection. Get it cleared up, don't let it get worse.

Wash gently with soap & water, then antibiotic ointment till seeing doctor.
