Ouija boards are useful, and safe if used properly. But, like computers, it's "garbage in, garbage out." There is a lot of superstition surrounding them, but most of the supposed dangers can be avoided by knowing exactly who you want to communicate with, and by using the board inside a protective circle. When the spirit manifests, question it to be certain of it's identity. If it isn't who you wanted to talk to, ask it to leave. Learning a simple banishing ritual, like the Star Ruby or Lesser Banishing Pentagram Ritual, will help ensure that no unwanted spirits show up, or stick around -- banish before and after each Ouija working.

Now, the question is -- are these actual spirits, or your own unconscious mind? Good question, but practically irrelevant. The important question is -- did you get any good and useful information, and was the experience worthwhile?

Good luck, and don't let anyone scare you off of the Ouija board.

A tool, yes. Evil, no. Do they work? Sometimes. Should we use them? Why not if you don't take them seriously, or use them in an unseemly manner. Risks? Taking them too seriously can get you into trouble. Subconsciously you or someone else is moving the piece. History? Not too sure, would have to do research on them. I do know they are also called Spirit Boards and people use them to try and communicate with the spirits, but again it is a tool only.

It opens doors and invites spirits into your work, but you can't always control who or what comes over.

they open doors to the world/s of ghosts, spirits, the dead-that is if you believe in them-if you don't than they are just tools for fun, and/or to waste time.

My friends and I have messed with it on several occasions. It seems to answer our questions sometimes but nothing very powerful has ever come across. How well it works also depends on who is working the board. Works best for one of the friends, not at all for the other and somewhat for me.

They can be interesting, I can't say much bad about them, though I know others who would swear to never use one-there's a possibly risk so it's up to you but perhaps research a little and see if you can find information on protecting yourself/ves.

That I don't know, and am not qualified to recommend a site about them either

You risk being bored, or possibly scared if you scare really easily.

They are a game where you and a few friends take turns subconsciously moving a piece around a board, pretending it could be supernatural. In this capacity they work, but they don't let you speak to the dead.

Use them at risk of boredom.

I don't know the history.

There is no risk besides wasting time.

They don't do anything.

No, they do not work.

Use them if you want to waste time on something that doesn't work.

I'd say they were invented to make money. Like those funny gadgets the Scientologists use. They don't work but people think they do.

EDIT: Hey, I was correct "The Ouija board was first introduced to the American public in 1890 as a parlor game sold in novelty shops by E.C. Reiche, Elijah Bond, and Charles Kennard"

They are a cheap psychological trick. There is no magic involved. And you can prove it easily.

Get your board and a group of people. Ask questions that nobody at the table could possibly know the answer to. The headline in next monday's newspaper is a good example. You will find that unless someone at the table knows the answer that the board will be wrong everytime.

Relax, it is just a toy.

Me and my friends have had a bad experience with ouiji boards that hasnt left me today. Yes they all worked for us, You can use them but please use it with risk. All im telling you is that you may be calling spirits but you dont know what kind of spirit your getting. We were very immature and lured in a spirit with some bad negative energy. Please be careful, it turned all of us into beleivers.

It depends on you're connection to the other side. And they do work. I've had a friend take their hand off one once and it was only my hand and it was going crazy. It told me things that I never knew and only found out about later. Plus they can invite bad spirits. I will never use one again. You're better off staying away.
