Jews kept the law of the Seventh Day Rest and worship. That is the 7th day of the week, Saturday. Most Christian Churches ignore that or try to make it Biblical to try to change the 7th day to the first day.
Now my question is, where is it stated that Gentiles are to pay one tenth of their income to a Christian Church or anyone else? The tribe of Levi got the tithe but does that mean we are bound to pay 1 tenth to the Catholic Church, Baptist, Methodists, Presbyterian, Pentecostal? Why is so much of the Old Testament ignored except the means to keep justifying paying the tithe? Christians do not have to be circumsized and most do not abstain from unclean meats (pork, shellfish ect) So how does the tithe law stay in effect and the other Levitcus laws did not?

Jewish law never applied to non-Jews, hence when Christians broke away from Judaism the only law applying to them was the seven Noahide Laws.

What was the purpose of the tithe?

Numbers 18:21  And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.

The tithe is used "...for their service which they serve...".

The Levites only had tithes for an inheritance. They needed to survive from this. Just like ministers today, regardless of denomination, need to survive. Being a minister may be their only occupation.

By the way, I am a Christian and a Sabbath(Saturday) keeper. I don't eat pork, shrimp, etc. just as the Bible prescribes. However, I am NOT circumcized. Why?

Galatians 6:15  For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.

Circumcision will do NOTHING for me!

More can be said about the other stuff.

GOD bless

The OT law was given to Israel. Meeting on the 7th day was never given by God to the Church. And the tithe is not in effect for the church. In fact the command to remember the Sabbath Day is the only one of the ten commandments not repeated in the NT. The principles of the law are still used, because they come from God, but the `letter of the Law is not necessarily followed by the church.

Rocker,
Tithing is no longer in effect either. I belong to a Non-Denominational Church and we follow the New Testament scriptures as the First Century Christians did. We are never told to worship on the Sabbath. In fact, Paul wrote that they met "On the first day of the week" to observe the Lord's Supper and to give as they had been prospered. Hve a wonderful week and a glorious holiday.
Thanks,
Eds

Edit:
Every reference that was given by "Santa" was a reference of the times before the death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of CHRIST thus they have to do with the Israelites prior to the Christian Church was formed.

You have to be kidding. If you don't know this answer then you are evading the TRUTH. Religions are only interested in one thing. M-O-N-E-Y. If I lie, why is it when disaster strikes, very few of them are out there in the midst of the peoples helping them like their holy words SAY they "should" be. Haven't you ever seen how funny leaders of religions are about always telling people how unimportant money is, YET it is the biggest part of "why" they are in this profession. If tomorrow a law were passed which stated that no religious leader could get paid for being up on the pulpit, how many do you actually think will be there on Sunday?
I, myself am an ordained minister, (prefer name of priest) and have never asked anyone for a "dime." DOLLARS, yes, dime no. Just kidding, but in reality I have never asked for money in anything I do. I WORK at a normal job like everyone else. Unlike colleagues whose only means of support is being a minister, I do not believe that those you teach should be "charged" for it. But then you wouldn't have all these religions and the ridiculous buildings people "feel" so saintly in either now would you.

The tithe and giving is also in the New Testament. That is why we do it. It is a sign of honoring God with our finances. We bring the tithe into the storehouse which is wherever we are being spiritually fed.

Malachi 3:8
"Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. "But you ask, 'How do we rob you?' "In tithes and offerings.
Malachi 3:7-9 (in Context) Malachi 3 (Whole Chapter)
Malachi 3:10
Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.

Through theological sleight of hand.

If a church teaches tithing (to them) it isn't any different if they were teaching any other work of the law, contrary to new testament theology.

They demonstrate they are wolves.

And no one paid tithes to the Levites based on wages (money) but rather produce and livestock.

The Sabbath is Friday at sundown to Saturday at sundown. The only laws non Jews have to follow is the 7 laws G-d gave to Noah

Because Jesus himself also rebuked some of the Jewish laws?
Besides, some of these can't even be applied today...
