if you have outstanding judgments against you(bench warrants, court issued fines, etc) you will NOT be able to enlist until those are taken care of. otherwise, if it is just cc debt, it depends on how much it is. you definitely won;t get a clearance, and you may not be able to get in period if the debt is excessive.

Bills you can't pay won't keep you from joining. The court date isn't a big deal (depending on what it's for, of course). Just make sure your ship date is after that. If it's just for a speeding ticket, you can probably get your court date moved up anyway- or just pay your ticket and move on with your life.

As far as the ASVAB, just do the best you can. You really can't study for it. Your job eligibility will be determined by it.

But you don't sign the day you take the ASVAB anyway. You will have to do your physical and all that junk at MEPS first. Then you usually sign that day. But make sure your recruiter has already reserved your job prior to that. I signed up in November and didn't leave until January.

Ok, nothing can really stop you from taking the ASVAB, except you. As for your bills are they overdue bills or just outstanding bills (like a car payment)? If they are late then that may effect what MOS you can get if it's jsut an outstanding bill you will be able to set up an allotment throught the military to take money from your pay each month to pay off your debt. With the court date I would advise against leaving before the court date because if something changes because of the ruling at court may effect your being able to enlist, or get certain jobs.

You might need a waiver for your finance situation. I wouldn't sign up till after your court date. You should ask your recrutier what would be best.
The ASVAB isn't that bad. If you do bad get a study guide and take it again in 6 months. The better you do the more jobs that are open to you. However if you have money problems you might not get a clearance that is required for some jobs.

Basically Active Duty is a full time job with good pay and with benefits. Reserves is a part time job with very low pay and with very limited benefits. Active Duty is probably a better choice for new Soldiers, unless you want to go to college full time right after AIT. You haven't enlisted yet. You still need to take the ASVAB, physical exam, pick a job, and then swear in. All of this will take place at MEPS. Hope that helps.

Tell your recruiter. If you have one, let him know about your finances and your court date. He'll either set you up for MEPS after the court date and tell you to finish up your payments.. or he may disqualify you right then and there. :/ Unfortunate.. but it happens. Good luck though, man. Stay safe.

Oh, and you need about a 55 to get a decent amount of jobs.. i got a 75 or an 80 and I've got a really nice job in the AF.

Don't stress on the test. You'll do better if you relax.

You will not be able to ship for BCT until your financial and legal issues are cleared up.

ohhh jeez kid, dont get yourself in trouble or your screwed for good. Those fines will disqualify you(if you dont pay them). As will going to court and being found guilty. Nows the time to get squared away, now or never, do you want it or not, its up to you.
