After looking at the pictures I am assuming that the Chevelle has been totally restored inside and out, including the engine. IF this is the case, and everything runs perfectly and everything is in great condition, then I would consider the deal. Some may say that this is a rediculous trade, but Chevelles that have been restored are worth a ton of money! Also, if you kept your Mustang for 15 years it would be nearly worthless, if you keep the Chevelle for 15 years it may become worth more than you paid for it!!
But I would definitely look into the blue book value of the Mustang and also the Chevelle.
Your best option would probably be to sell the Mustang outright as a private sale, and use that money to buy the Chevelle. That way if there is any left over you keep it.
Good Luck
P.S. After ansering, I went back and read other people's answers, and if this is not a true SS, I would be hesitant on buying it. It would really depend on the engine and many other factors becuase although I love the Chevelle Malibu, it is just no SS.

Check the serial numbers on the chevelle to see if they match, i'd go if its not as a daily driver. In other words, have you got something else to drive every day? The chevelle is a project car, should get no less than 2 thousand miles per year.
Ten years from now the stang wont be worth crap but the chevelle will be.

Hell yes! Your Mustang will lose value, the Chevelle will appreciate in value. The Chevelle isn't an original SS though, it's a Malibu. You can tell from the vynil roof, unless it's VIN coded as a Malibu SS. I can give you a lot more info if you'd like, just let me know.

I agree with most of the people on here. The Chevelle will be a much better long term investment if it checks out and you keep it running, but don't plan on driving it much.

There's a good chance it's not a true SS, but a Malibu with Super Sport badges. Do your research before trading. (a vin check will tell you if it left the factory as a true SS)

It's a good trade value wise. But only if you are, or know a great mechanic. There may be nothing wrong w the chevy, but older cars require more care. There will be no computer chip to tell you what is going on. Good luck. There is nothing sweeter than a classic muscle car.
